About This Item
After a six year break, Big Country Bluegrass is back with new music! Carry Me Back To The Bluegrass is the group's sixth album for Rebel Records and as always the band delivers it's own hard driving and heartfelt style of bluegrass music which makes them crowd favorites wherever they perform. Whether it's at a festival in Missouri, on the stage at the Grand Ole Opry, or at a small intimate concert in their hometown of Independence, Virginia, the band brings back memories reminiscent of the early days of bluegrass music.Tommy and Teresa Sells formed Big Country Bluegrass in 1987, the group's name taken from the classic instrumental InchBig CountryInch that the late Jimmy Martin recorded many years ago. All of the band members live in and around the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and North Carolina and their music reflects much of the deep musical heritage found in the region.Sells drives the band with his unique mandolin style and is known for finding old and new songs that are at times fun and other times poignant. His wife Teresa plays guitar and sings both lead and harmony. Along with Teresa, Eddie Gill with his distinctive high lead vocals creates the unique vocal sound at the heart of Big Country Bluegrass. Additionally, Billy Hawks plays fiddle and contributes baritone and tenor vocals, Daniel Martin adds banjo and baritone vocals and Tony King keeps time on the bass. The success of Big Country Bluegrass on the bluegrass charts has helped spread the word about their traditional sound. Each of the band's last five Rebel Records releases has had a #1 song on the Bluegrass Unlimited Airplay Chart including three written specifically for the group by the late Tom T.
