So much fun! The birds love it and I like collecting the photos. The AI software in the app correctly identifies the bird type much of the time. And even when it doesn’t, it pegs it as a “mystery guest” which can often be pretty funny: like a squirrel hanging upside down, or a blurry pic of an obvious (to you and me) Northern Cardinal. It’s easy to clean and easy to fill. I definitely recommend getting the solar roof, so you don’t have to bring the camera in to charge when it’s cold or wet outside.

We enjoy and like the Bird Buddy overall. It's fun and has operated well and as expected. We get some really cool pics of birds! We don't pay for any type of subscription, and it is just fine. I have the solar roof option, and it has gone 6 months and remained charged fine on its own the whole time. Small issues are the door to fill the feed is small and slightly difficult to use. Some add-ons are nice (fence, perch extension, there's also suet and jelly holders) and that can get expensive. Pole mounting is not perfect, and holes don't line up great with a standard mount. By the time I bought the solar bird buddy, side fence option (which keeps the birds in front of camera much better) perch extension which is a borderline necessity, and a heavy-duty pole to mount it on with a squirrel baffle, I'm in pretty deep on this contraption! However, if you're into birds, feeding and watching, it's pretty darn cool!
