⭐⭐⭐☆☆ 3/5 Stars As an avid music and audio enthusiast, I was excited to see Bose introduce the new Lifestyle speaker component. The design is modern, attractive, and clearly aimed at competing with brands like Sonos in the premium whole-home audio space. From a visual and build-quality standpoint, Bose did a great job. Unfortunately, this is where my excitement started to fade. What many consumers—and even some store associates—may not realize is that the new Lifestyle speaker does not integrate with Bose’s existing home theater ecosystem. I currently own a Bose Smart Ultra 900, Bose 700 Soundbar, Bose 600 Soundbar, and multiple Bose subwoofers and accessories. Before purchasing, I contacted Bose Support directly and learned that while the new Lifestyle speaker can be added to the Bose app, it cannot be grouped with existing Bose home theater systems for synchronized playback. In other words, it operates as a standalone product rather than becoming part of the ecosystem many longtime Bose customers have already invested thousands of dollars into. For me, this completely defeats the purpose of expanding my Bose setup. One of the biggest advantages of premium audio brands is ecosystem integration, and Bose missed an opportunity here. Existing customers should not have to start over to enjoy new products. The speaker itself is cool, well-designed, and sounds great, but the lack of backward compatibility and ecosystem integration is a major disappointment. It feels like Bose is trying to compete with Sonos while overlooking one of the most important aspects of building a successful multi-room audio platform: seamless connectivity across generations of products. I’m also concerned about the long-term strategy. The Bose app hasn’t seen a meaningful refresh in years, and introducing a separate product path without integrating existing flagship products raises questions about scalability and future support. For now, I’ll continue enjoying my Bose 900 setup and wait to see whether Bose improves compatibility in future updates. Until then, I can’t justify investing further into the Lifestyle platform. As a longtime Bose customer, I’m going to hold onto this speaker for now and give Bose an opportunity to evolve the platform. However, if I begin experiencing issues or find that the ecosystem continues to move in a direction that doesn’t support existing customers, I may seriously consider moving to Sonos. One thing Sonos appears to have figured out is ecosystem integration. Even as they introduce new products and upgrade their speaker lineup, their systems generally continue to work together within the same environment. That’s the kind of long-term compatibility and customer-focused approach that premium audio buyers expect. Bose has built an excellent product, but there is still work to do when it comes to creating a truly connected ecosystem.

Hey Chris, we appreciate your positive feedback regarding the speaker's modern design and great sound!
Our new range of Lifestyle Ultra systems are designed to work together across flexible configurations, whether used in a single space or across multiple rooms throughout your home.
The Lifestyle Ultra Speaker can be used independently, as a stereo pair with a second Ultra Speaker, or as part of a fully configured home theater when used in conjunction with the Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar and Subwoofer. That said, we appreciate you taking the time to clearly share your desire for additional speaker connection options. We will be sure to pass your feedback along to our product team.
In the meantime, the good news is that that the Soundbar and Speaker can be grouped wirelessly with any speaker, including those from third parties, when using Apple AirPlay or Google Cast sources.
