Really wanted to love this but couldn’t get past the AirPlay issues. It would randomly skip and cut out when using AirPlay on a very reliable WiFi network ( tried with three different devices on different versions of iOS). Great battery life and surprisingly good sound for how small and light it is. Ended up going with the Sonos Move that does sound slightly better (worse battery life and much larger/heavier) for $50 more than this Bose. If you don’t need/want AirPlay I would recommend this over the Sonos Move.

When the speaker us working, it is great. The sound is amazing and the ability to connect to Alexa and Amazon Music is fantastic. However, I've had it less than a year and I've had to completely uninstall it from my phone twice, and literally every other time i use it, I have to reboot the device because it can't find the connection. No device should have to be messed with this much! The Bose app is cumbersome and unintuitive. I wish there were better options on the market for Alexa-connected speakers.

Sound quality is good. More bass than our Soundlink Revolve Plus, but poor battery life, and it seems to charge slowly. Battery doesn’t charge when plugged in while playing. Don’t like the WiFi link or the new app.

This is what it cannot do 1. Doesn’t work as a speakerphone (you get a microphone array but cannot use it for phone calls) 2. It does not connect to smart tv unless you already have another Bose tv speaker (then they connect to each other) 3. Doesn’t work with apple (Siri) but in order to make use of microphone array need to switch to google or alexa (I still don’t understand why I would like it listen to me 24/7 with most sensitive microphone array.....) - looks like Bose promises it won’t listen to everything The tech support felt very sorry they cannot help with anything Most expensive ever , app sucks Now good news - it has good sound quality .. I’m glad I returned it (in original packaging in like new condition) but Best Buy customers service accepted it in most mean manner Don’t know who I hate more now Bose or Best Buy........

Buy the ultimate ears. I have the Bose and ultimate ears mega boom 2. Ultimate ears syncs up so easy, no hiccups, battery lasts a lot longer. Sound quality is just as good . Gave the Bose away. It isn’t as user friendly

The sound quality is phenomenal. It is slow to charge and won't keep a charge. I've been a Bose customer for over 25 years. I have the Bose sound bar which is several years old. It's still my go to because this one never fully charges, even after several days, and then dies quickly. It's like an old mule. Also, it turns on when you charge it and is hard to turn off. Ugh... I don't have time to play around with Bose customer service, so just beware the issues and if you get one, be sure and check is carefully before your return window is expired.

Sound quality is great. Trying to set up the speaker is like pulling teeth. I finally decided to reset the speaker and try again and still have so many issues trying to get the app working with the speaker

Decent sound, poor quality bluetooth. Randomly loses connection, and there is no hardwire option. I appreciate that they make excellent audio products, they really need to up their game with the technology/connectivity side.

Unfortunately the speaker would not hold a charge thought maybe we just received a bad speaker so we ordered another after we returned this one & it was the same thing. Great Sound but being outside around the pool and wireless it did not hold up for the cost

sounds amazing, fully integrates with my soundbar and Bose 500. There is a pretty big glitch for which I have not received a fix for from Bose. You cannot power the speaker off with the power button when not using the speaker. This causes the speaker to drain battery when not in use. If this could get fixed, I would give 5 stars.

I am so happy to hear you are enjoying the sound quality of your new speaker! Press and hold the power button for two seconds to turn the speaker off. The speaker plays a tone to indicate that it has turned off. Just so you know, to save battery power, the speaker automatically turns off after 20 minutes of inactivity when it is not plugged in, not connected to a Wi-Fi network and not playing audio.

It sounded great but there was a problem with this speaker. It was an open box and we couldn't get it off of speaking Spanish and do a reset. I hope to get another one sometime. I took it back within the 14 days and Best Buy took it back with no problems.

Thanks for reviewing the Portable Smart Speaker! The battery will last up to 12 hours when in use, or up to 24 hours in standby mode (i.e. after 20 minutes of inactivity). If you turn the speaker off via the Power button, the speaker will be completely off, conserving the battery. The build of this item is well made, the only down side is that it’s not speakerphone capable, which is a feature in older models. Sad to see regression there!

The Portable smart speaker, while looking a little similar to the SoundLink Revolve which you're likely referring to is not part of the same family. None of the speakers in the smart speaker family lineup features speakerphone options found in our portable "SoundLink" lineup as they fulfill a different purpose. If you're interested in that feature, I can certainly recommend trying something like the SoundLink Revolve Plus II which is the current generation product.

This speaker sounds nice but I don't need or even want the voice control feature. The biggest drawback is no input allowed except for wifi and bluetooth.

WARNING! "Hey Google, Play Music on All Speakers." NOPE.... not going to happen with this thing. After putting back $40/week for months to save up and buy this ...so I can join it to my Google Home Speaker Group; I get it home to learn... it WILL NOT JOIN GOOGLE HOME SPEAKER GROUPS. And with the offered music services, the only one I want (Youtube Music)... Bose does not support it. What a waste of my time. Was my expectation wrong when I saw it advertised as having Google Assistant Support? ... ugh! This is the 2nd Bose product I have purchased. There will never be a third.
