[Employee of bestbuy] The sound is better than any other headphone I've owned, and the battery life is great. That being said, these headphones have some major issues that are causing me to look at alternatives much sooner than I would have liked. The seam in the ear cushion starts to rip after a couple of months of use, I've had to replace them 4 times in the 1.5 years I have owned these. Fortunately Bose sells replacements, but they cost $35. So factor that in as a hidden cost of these when comparing them to alternatives, and a major annoyance. The software can be buggy, they will repeatedly pause and restart. I contacted their support, who told me to turn Bluetooth off on other devices, but that did not help. It doesn't happen too often, but when it does, it goes on for a while, and is very frustrating.

Hi.
Thank you for posting. There are two timers in your headphones that can power off your headphones if they are not used for a period of time to conserve power. The Auto-off setting, which is adjustable in the Bose app and the Motion Detection timer will turn off your headphones If no movement is detected for 60 minutes. With the cushions, those are made from protein leather, which can naturally deteriorate over time with use. This can be accelerated by environmental factors such as heat and humidity, but the great news is that we do stock replacement cushions. If you require further assistance, please get in touch with us at https://bose.life/3BgUIIU. We would love to help.

These headphones constantly disconnect or power down when I don't have any media running, even though I have disabled all auto off settings. I wish I had decided to return before it was too late. If you are actively listening to media, constantly, they work OK. Pros: ANC is nice. They are cute. Cons: Connection issues are extremely annoying - headphones disconnect from phone and ANC turns off after a period of time when media is not being played, regardless of settings. Hinge feels a bit flimsy and catches my hair when I am removing the headphones, which I have to do multiple times a day in order to troubleshoot the connection issue. Controls are annoying - power button doesn't work in a consistent way (sometimes I have to hold it down to cause power to come back, sometimes a single tap works).

I've had these headphones since April 25' and the ear cups have already begun to disintegrate/split. The connectivity issues mentioned in other bad reviews are not embellishing. These headphones come with all sorts of fancy "automatic features". If I take off the right ear cup it pauses my music. It also screws up my VOIP applications, starts auto playing browser tabs that I have open, messes up connection to my phone during phone calls, etc. Numerous times I've pressed the on/off button and just gotten zero response. So I have to take them off completely, set them down for 30 seconds, then put them back on before they detect they're being worn. If I turn off a device they were connected to, they will endlessly seek that device despite telling it to connect to something else (or even when it is already connected to something else). The audio quality is also terrible. I like listening to loud music but these things are tinny as heck. It's the only over the ear headphones I've owned that actually hurt my ear drums. The noise cancelling is the worst I've ever experienced. I've gone back to my Quiet COmfort QC35 II's because every time my car hits a bump in the road, the Ultras "bump" the music. I can't lay against anything with them on because the microphone placement for the noise canceling just loses its mind. The only thing these headphones have going for them is the battery life. I can go almost 24 hours without needing to recharge. That said, Best Buy's "no returns" policy on such a shoddy piece of equipment means two things; I will never buy my electronics from Best Buy AND I will not purchase a Bose product again. Another great company brought low by bean counters more interested in churning out the "next great tech with zero QA". Absolutely trash headphones.

Hi Aaron,
I am sorry to hear that you are disappointed about your QuietComfort Ultra headphones.
The ear cushions are wearable items that can wear down with time or certain conditions (i.e. temperature, improper storage, type of usage, accidental damage, etc.) It is then recommended to replace them after a certain period, if they start deteriorating.
Also, if you experience any connectivity or audio issue, please factory reset the headphones, following these steps: https://bose.life/4hO1GbQ

I read alot of reviews about how good these sounded. I was broken between this the momentum 4 and the skull crusher anc 2. So i bought all three of them to make my decision. Highly dissapointed with the bose qc ultra. Im using iphone 15 pro max and the volume for these are atrocious. They are to low. I like loud music so that was the first turn off. Anc is good about the same a little bit better compared to the momentum 4. Crushers anc 2 anc is meh compared to both. Definitely not even close. Bose has the best ambient sound with sennheiser second than crushers. The base on the bose im sorry is complete trash. Senheisser sounded better than the bose in all aspects. Obviously the base is way better on the crushers. But what overall killed it for me was the sound. I gave it 1 stars just because of that. If you like vocals sure knock yourself out. Best build easily are sennheisers than bose than crushers. If you want loud like me stay away from these. I dont know how they sound with android. These are definitely going back.

Let me preface by saying Ive been a loyal Bose customer for years. I had my wireless QuietComfort headphones for about 6 years. They were great. The only issue was the batteries were starting to show their age. Other than that, they were/are perfect (I still own them). I decided to upgrade to the latest Bose Ultra headphones. The noise canceling is by far the best in the business (when it actually works). Here are the numerous issues I had with them over 60 days: 1. Random disconnections from phone 2. Frequent (3-4x a day) failure of noise cancellation in 1 of the ears 3. Frequest comments from people I talk to: ‘Can you speak up it sounds like you are talking from across the room’. This is has happened at least 20-30 times in the last 60 days. 4. The worst part of these headphones, TURNING THEM ON. It takes a solid 5-8 seconds for the headphone to turn on. And 2 out of 5 attempts they dont turn on. So that results in trying again until it works. I have missed calls because of this. Overall, just completely disappointed.

[Employee of bestbuy] After seven months with the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones including countless domestic flights and multiple international trips I can confidently say I regret buying these. I came from the Sony WH-1000XM2, and honestly, I should’ve stuck with my seven-year-old Sony's or waited for the WH-1000XM6. The QC Ultra is nothing but an expensive disappointment. Battery Life? Embarrassing. These headphones somehow burn through battery even when you turn them off. I can flip the power switch via the Bluetooth button, see the LED die, set them down, and still wake up to a dead battery the next morning. On travel days, it’s infuriating. My XM2s never did this not once. ANC? Horrible for Movement. Any movement such as walking, chewing, turning your head, shifting in your seat causes this awful popping, thudding, or pressure shift. It completely shatters immersion. It’s so distracting that I’ve stopped using them for anything other than sitting perfectly still on a plane. Call Quality? Straight-Up Bad. Bose advertises “crystal-clear calls,” but the real-world performance is downright miserable. During a recent FaceTime call with my daughter, I was constantly being asked to repeat myself or worse, she couldn’t hear me at all. For something this expensive, that’s unacceptable. Background noise leaks in, voices cut out, and the microphones struggle with even the lightest breeze. Using these for calls feels like a downgrade from AirPods, speakerphone, or literally anything else. Connectivity? Finicky at Best. Random Bluetooth dropouts, audio desync when switching between devices, and the annoying tendency to auto-pair to the wrong device the moment you turn them on. Switching between phone, iPad, and laptop feels like playing roulette. Spatial Audio? More Gimmick Than Innovation. The head-tracking features are disorienting, inconsistent, and drain battery even faster. Most people turn it off immediately, and I don’t blame them it adds nothing but annoyance. And No, I’m Not a Sony Fanboy. I just want a premium product to work like a premium product. These do not. Every flight reminds me how badly I wish I’d waited for the Sony WH-1000XM6 instead of taking a chance on Bose’s hype machine. Never again. These will be my first and last Bose headphone purchase. Don’t waste your money, I should have waited for Sony's or bought anything else.

Hi Stephen, thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback with us, we truly appreciate it. Your input is valuable and helps us identify areas where we can improve.
The QuietComfort Ultra Headphones are designed with advanced features such as spatial audio, adaptive noise cancellation, and multi-device connectivity. However, we understand these can feel different compared to traditional models, and issues like battery drain, ANC sensitivity to movement, and call quality are not experiences we want you to have.
To help, we recommend:
Checking for firmware updates in the Bose Music app, as these often resolve battery and connectivity concerns.
Resetting Bluetooth connections to improve pairing stability across multiple devices.
Adjusting ANC settings in the app, which can reduce the pressure effect during movement.
We want you to enjoy the reliable performance and comfort Bose is known for, and we’ll continue to support you in getting the best experience possible.

I desperately wanted to like these, though they sound exactly like the QC IIs, unless you are into their dynamic audio. Otherwise, it's a gimmic. If you are used to controlling volume on the headset, good luck with the sensor. It seemed I could with one "swipe", turn the volume too low, or one swipe up to blow my eardrums out. I can't even get my head around this obvious failing. Also, I am not sure what is going on with Bose and their apps and bluetooth. I am currently running a couple qc II, am xm4, and airpod pros. These are by far and above the worst app experience, and that's saying something because apple doesn't even have an app for android. Why is it so hard for the headset to connect to the phone, but so easy for it connect to every other device? It constantly thinks something is streaming, when nothing is playing. Which stops the 2nd device from being able to play. I just turned it on/off 5 times, and had to turn off all other bluetooth devices that were setup, just to get it to connect to it's own app on the phone. I could keep typing, but don't really want to be their QA or UI team. Sadly, I will be returning these unless by some miracle they start working as they should.

These hadphones are the biggest piece of garbage I have purchased in the past 20 years - i think next to the Commodore Amiga computer in the late 80s, I have never experienced such a failure in technology as these overpriced crap headphones. *Bose* whoever worked on this project - Fire them. I have been a 15+ year dedicated customer of your products until now. the fact that you released such a shotty janky piece of product to production after having a track record of excellence makes me think/know you've lost it. Anyone who purchased these and wrote a good review, click down a level and see how it drops connections ALL the time, The extremely poor and ponderous interaction with everyday apple products leaves one feeling they're in the stone age all of a sudden; how the once amazing noise cancelling wireless Bose headphones now feel like it's hit or miss whether or not they will simply connect to my bluetooth products or not like every other Bose headphone has but this one can't seem to without going through a ponderous procedure that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't'. This loyal Bose cusotomer is switching to Sony *Permanently*.

First boot of the headphone noise-cancelling and sound is great. But soon after the headphones will get in a state that crash often where there will be no sound at all. The ONLY way out of this state if to FULLY drain the battery, but when the headphones are in this no sound crash state, it is almost importable to do so. It does not matter if you get a replacement (the replacement will soon do the same thing) or a factory reset (there is no true factory reset option). Many times to get sound back (but will still be in the crashing state) I leave them plug in for hr's. Each time I need to leave them plug in longer and longer. (Ex 1hr → 1.5hr → 2.5hr → 5hr → 12hr → Gave up and called them dead) It became of this problem, I was never able to drain the battery of the headphone pass 50% before the headphone would crash. Connectivity is one of the things that would prevent sound from coming back to the headphone when in the no sound state (in the app will show info about the headphone like if they are charging).

Thank you very much for your review of the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones!
While I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the noise-cancelling functionality of your headphones and the Bose sound, I'm surprised to hear about the audio "crashing" in the way you've described. This shouldn't happen, and may be a sign of your pair of headphones being defective. What you can try - as well as an exchange of the headphones - is pairing a different Bluetooth device to the headphones. It has been known for the connected Bluetooth device, rather than the headphones themselves, to cause this type of audio issue.

Good sound and noise-cancelling on wide array of media, including music, podcasts and watching movie. Setup takes a few too many tries, though, and buttons don't always respond as the paperwork and app outline. Better options out there for this money, especially Sony products. Returning tomorrow because they only stay connected when battery is over 80%. After that, they disconnect 2.5 seconds after connecting. Happening on iPhone, Android, Mac and PC. Definitely a problem when cost is so high. Likely defective - - hopefully others have better luck with their purchases.

Constantly crashing, if listening to music on one device and a call comes in on another, the headphones need to be rebooted to keep playing music. $400 I paid for these and yet my $40 headphones from 20 years ago are easier to use. Sound cancelling does not equal hearing protection, these will amplify the sound of what is streamed to them to such an extent that standard tinnitus is exacerbated if they are used in a loud environment. Also, the dude at the store claimed they had noise cancelling on the microphone, which I've since found out literally no headset in production offers.

We appreciate you sharing your experience. It’s frustrating when premium headphones don’t meet expectations, especially when it comes to seamless connectivity. They use proprietary technology for active noise reduction, meanwhile, passive noise reduction is achieved by the combination of ear cup fit, design and clamping force of the headband. The Bose Ultra headphones are their flagship headphone, coming in at nearly $400msrp. These headphones are the new cornerstone of Bose's TOP SHELF identity. Unfortunately, Bose fumbled with the release of the QC Ultra. These headphones gave me the ich for Bose. There are plenty of reviews that highlight good things about these headphones. There are only a few that call out the following: -Onboard audio processing creates a noticeable latency while watching video content. Wired connections also have a noticeable latency. -This product cannot be used for FPS video games due to the audio latency. -The headphones require a charge even when directly plugged into the audio cable. - The sound quality sounds manufactured - The foam pads feel delicate - The arms are pinch points - The controls are confusing. This is likely Apple's fault because of their walled garden. - The tactile button sounds annoyingly loud. The power button does not.. which was an odd choice - The start-up sound and battery level indicator sound like loud and booming 2001 Mercedes voice control assistant. - I experienced sound fatigue while listening to these headphones. - The headphones introduce a ridiculous amount of latency in zero-latency monitoring environments. (I have the HD6xx in my setup, but I wanted to see how the QC Ultra performed in the environment. The QC headphones failed because of the latency issues, and I didn't expect Bose to sound as good as the Sienhiesser. That would have been unfair.) I did not buy these headphones expecting quality sound; I needed them for general use, but the latency, crap controls, sound fatigue, and lack of QC (quality control) are enough to return them and never look back. To Bose: I'm disappointed.

Let me start by saying these headphones are great. I had purchased them online for pickup open box in supposedly excellent condition. I anticipated them to look slightly worn, but this item was very obviously used and more so fair/good condition. When I brought them back into the store even the associate acknowledged that they were clearly not in excellent condition. I reordered it brand new and love them, so I do overall recommend this item.

This probably the worst purchase over ever made I terms of value and experience. Thank god for Best Buy for letting me return them. Noise cancel was very poor. Sound good but inconsistent. There was so much pressure it started to tickle and hurt your ear drum. They fit poorly overhead. The worst, every time you walked you away from a device it knew, it would go “clunk clunk clunk” repeatedly as if if it was designed to torture you. I would not but these fro anyone unless you hate them.

Hi Mitch, I'm sorry to hear you returned your QuietComfort Ultra Headphones! At Bose, we strive to provide a fit that will be comfortable for a wide range of head shapes. However, it is true that comfort is subjective to each customer. As for noise cancelling, this is also subjective, but don't forget you can set up to 7 of your own noise-cancelling modes (custom modes) in the Bose app. Here, you can set the noise-cancelling level in increments of 10%, helping you to find the right combination of noise-cancelling and awareness for you. I hope this helps! Warm regards, Fiona M. - Bose Customer Support
