The sound and noise canceling on these are great, and i have no issues at all with that. Microphone audio is decent. The battery can usually last a full day with Noise canceling using a mix of Ambient mode and Noise canceling. I usually just plug them in overnight so i can't say how long charging takes. The app to contol the headphones is hit or miss, as sometimes it doesn't seem to connect to the headphones unless i turn off my phones bluetooth and turn it back on (Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, Android 16.) Also the headphones can have issues staying connected regardless of what device they are connected to, assuming they connect in the first place. It will work fine then disconnect and reconnect a few times before staying connected, potentially repeating later down the line. (This includes a phone in my hand, a desktop pc at my feet, switch 2 in my hands, and others at various distances.) The head detection for turning them on/Pausing works maybe 70% of the time, with it failing to turn on regularly and needing to press the bluetooth button on the headphones to wake them up. The next problem is that they have a durability issue. I've had them for 4 months and i've used them daily, and i don't handle them roughly. Just from normal use, the padding on one of the ear cups is falling apart at the seams. This is an issue that many people seem to have. To get a replacement set from Bose will run you another $34 (pre tax and shipping). If you're lucky and get a pair that won't fall apart on you, these are a great set of headphones that work when they work. If you don't want to risk it, look elsewhere, i wouldn't blame you for skipping something with occasional connection issues and potentially spending an extra $34 every 4-6 months on replacement pads.

Bose were my first headphones and my second so I generally try Bose before anything else. I tried the ultra & less than 1 week of daily use my ears were sweating profusely so I just wiped them off and continued but at then end of the day my ear and the skin totally surrounding it was bright red and itched worse than a 5yr old with chicken pox on his arm while wearing a cast for a broken arm(personal experience) it was a nightmare! I rubbed my ears and skin so hard and vigorously they started bleeding and swelling. I love Bose’s reliability and their new immersion sound but nothing is worth the pain they caused me. So if you do NOT have skin sensitivity I’d go for it in a second but if you do please go with a different pair your ears will thank you I ended up going for the new Sonos Ace headphones they do not and have not disappointed me yet. So go ahead and make your choice in my own personal opinion they rank as follows and this should not be construed as definitive or authoritative just my own personal opinions 1) Bose Ultra Over ear Headphones (if you aren’t sensitive like me 2) Sonos Ace Headphones only problem is app is sometimes a pain in the butt 3) Apple Max headphones the biggest waste of money for the fewest features imaginable all at a price that when it was announced in the strategy meeting everyone looked at the guy talking with look that said are you out of your mind no truly smart person will go for that.

While the sound quality and noise cancelation is great, the ear cushions will fail within a year. They separate on a seam. It has happened twice now with these headphones. First time, Bestbuy replaced the headphones, Second time, I contacted Bose directly and they are supposed to be sending me new ear cushions but they are on backorder, go figure. I have been a long time customer of several Bose products, never disappointed until now. For a premium product priced like a premium product, this is a fail.

Hey Debbie, thanks for sharing your feedback! We're glad to hear that the sound quality and noise cancellation meet your expectations. Over time, cushions can naturally wear down due to factors like humidity and regular use, but the good news is, they’re easily replaceable. Swapping them out can significantly extend the overall lifespan of your headphones.

Good sound and good noice cancelling from the outside, works best for music and music only. Not very good mic quality and very poor voice isolation. For its price and brand, I expected top-notch performance but was mistaken.

For the price they are noise cancelling should be amazing but I feel like it doesn’t work that well I could still hear my surroundings and other peoples voices and music even when quiet mode is activated I also don’t like that they turn on by themselves when I place them on and the battery is ok

Hi Manuel, thank you for sharing your feedback. The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones deliver world‑class noise cancellation, quieter than ever before, along with breakthrough spatialized audio for immersive listening, no matter the content or source. Their elevated design and luxe materials provide unrivaled comfort. These headphones also feature on‑head detection: when removed from your head without being turned off, they will remain on for a couple of minutes. However, if they are placed in the case, the headphones should power off, and you’ll need to turn them on again before use. If the noise cancellation isn’t sufficient, you can adjust the level through the Bose App according to your preference. Hope this helps!

I used these headphones for about 8 months before the left ear cushion starting splitting at the (glued) seam. It's unfortunate because they were working for me. Pros: -They generally sound crisp and rich. They're not the audiophile's headphone, but they're solid for everyday use. -They are pretty comfortable, even after hours of wear with glasses. -Passthrough is pretty solid. Cons: - They're mostly made of cheap plastic which you can hear occasionally creak while you use them. Not the biggest deal but it can get distracting. -Bluetooth is pretty buggy. I can get over this, too, but it's pretty annoying switching between devices. -Like all Bose headphones, the ear cushions are practically disposable. They're synthetic and wear out really quickly. These ones just ripped at the seam. These headphones cost $400 and I expect better. Even though past models were made of plastic, they still felt more solid than this. The QC Ultras are simply not built to last and I shouldn't have to replace the cushions annually for that amount of money.

I expected something great – but I am really disappointed. Why? It’s a series of small things: 1) why does it always spell out / say what machine it connects to every time – and why can’t I configure that as an option to turn on/off? Having this announcement EVERY time I connect/disconnect several times a day as it connects to 2 machines makes me cringe when I want to put them on. 2) As I write this review, my sound cancellation that was working just fine (and working great by the way), just decided to stop working – and the ambient sound is not coming in – and yes, my battery is at 100%. That shouldn’t happen. 3) The power on/off button is a issue because it seems unresponsive at times to the power button. 4) Sound quality is good – when it is working, No complaints there. Perhaps I received a lemon…

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re glad to hear you found the sound quality strong when working, and we’re sorry to learn you’ve experienced issues with your Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones. The voice prompt is designed to help customers using multipoint connection know which devices are connected. We value your feedback, and in our latest firmware update this feature has been updated for newer models such as the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen).
Regarding the noise cancellation, you can switch between Aware and Quiet modes by pressing and holding the Multi‑function button. If noise cancellation is no longer working, here’s a helpful guide you can use: https://bose.life/4diLFv0
For the power button, a single press is all that’s needed to turn the headphones on—no need to press multiple times. If you need further assistance, please feel free to reach out to us through this link: http://bose.life/globalsupport
We’ll be glad to help.

These cans deliver crisp, rich audio and look sharp while doing it—perfect for studying in a coffee shop or lounging at home. But take them on a jog or anything that involves a lot of movement and the sound starts to wobble and distort. I get that they’re not marketed as workout headphones, yet plenty of lifestyle-focused models from other brands hold up much better once you’re in motion. So: stellar for stationary listening, but skip them if you need something that can keep pace with your runs or HIIT sessions.

The Bose QuietComfort Ultra block noise like a champ, creating your own peaceful oasis. Comfort's great, except for my ears getting a bit toasty after a while. While the tech is top-notch, the controls for power, pairing, and even sleep mode are terrible! Turning them on feels like solving a riddle, Bluetooth pairing can be a tango with frustration, and the sleep mode plays its own game, shutting down mid-audio even while perched snugly on my head. Talk about an unwanted pause button! It triggers way too often when still on my head!) Still, for pure noise canceling, they're unbeatable. For the price though - the controls should be easier to use. Just give us a normal power on/off button!

I use this with a windows machine. Audio quality is good, connectivity is good even with multiplayer real time games, microphone is also good. But they have got the very basic feature wrong which is needed on a daily basis. The ability to quickly turn ON & OFF the device. This makes the headphones trash for me. They have a single button to control power, bluetooth and what-not. For power controls, you need to long press the button and understand what's happening from a tone that plays -- and it's very confusing. I am not sure if it's ON or not and have to try it multiple times on daily basis; like every day. If I place my headphone on the desk, it sneakily goes into some standby state and it is supposed to detect when it's again worn to turn back ON. But this process is ultra slow, it almost never happens and if you manually try to turn it ON, it requires several tries. This is trash on usability front compared to a single simple toggle button. I am sure many people in Bose got promoted building this unnecessary feature but its not good at all. Bose, I would gladily return them to purchase some other headphone if you can take them back as I'm stuck with them.

All in all, I didn't have a great experience with these headphones. I owned the old QC 35 and ran them into the ground, so I had high hopes and expectations when I purchased these. Indeed, the noise cancellation is top notch and is only rivaled by Sony and Apple. The passthrough audio is also pretty good, and in my opinion is only second to apple's. However, I had a consistent background hiss on both noise cancellation mode and hear through mode that got very annoying. What ultimately caused me to return them was that once these headphones ran out of battery, they are pretty much useless. Plugging in the included 3.5mm headphone jack does not work unless the headphones have some charge left. I read in a forum somewhere that you had to plug both the USB C, and the headphone jack if you wanted to use them as a regular pair of wired headphones. Save your money and get the old qc 35s or better yet get the Sennheiser momentum 4s, which come with better battery life (up to 60 hours vs up to 24 hours with the QC Ultras), decent noise cancellation and in my opinion better sound quality and can be used as wired headphones with both the included 3.5mm headphone cable, or USB C.

I bought these headphones for their noise canceling properties, so that's what I'm going to focus on. Headphones cancel noise in two ways: Active and Passive. Active cancels it by playing sound waves to counter the sounds around you. It only works with consistent noises like a plane engine or an ac unit. Passive works by physically blocking the noise, it's similar to blocking noise with your fingers. This headset is advertised as having both types and fails at both of them. Best Buy doesn’t have a "specification" for passive noise canceling(PNC), but it does have one for "sound isolating" which is the closest to PNC that I could find. For the active noise canceling, on its strongest setting, it dampens consistent noises, but that's all. It doesn't cancel them out, they are still quite loud. My best example is a vacuum, despite the fact it is a consistent sound, and what the active noise canceling is made for, I still hear the vacuum quite loudly. Even from six feet away, I can hear an average power fan. It fails at canceling noise. As for the sound isolating, it doesn't isolate sound. Wearing the headphones doesn't even dampen noise from close up, unwinding the cord of a vacuum is the same level of volume while wearing the headphones or not wearing them. Dogs barking more than two rooms away is muffled by maybe 20% while wearing them. This level of noise canceling is something I'd expect from 100 dollar, poor quality headphones. Not headphones worth $300 or "$429 competitor's price." Calling this "sound isolating" is negligent at best and willfully ignorant or malicious at worst, I expected better from Best Buy. Don't waste your money, I'm planning on refunding at my first opportunity.

Hi Tristan, thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review. The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones feature advanced spatial audio and world-class noise cancellation, including Quiet Mode for full isolation, Aware Mode to hear surroundings (with ActiveSense to dampen sudden loud spikes), and Immersion Mode for spatial audio with full cancellation.
We appreciate you pointing out the differences between “sound isolating” and passive noise canceling, and we’ll make sure your comments are passed along to our product team. Your perspective helps us understand where improvements are needed. We’re sorry to hear that the noise canceling performance hasn’t met your expectations. Since active and passive noise canceling can vary depending on the environment and fit, you may find it helpful to adjust the noise cancellation levels through the Bose Music App.

I’ve always loved Bose, and these seemed like a huge step up, the noice canceling is noticeably better, the headphones are comfortable, but the software makes these unbearable to use. The way they handle switching between two connected devices is just terrible. Sometimes it seems to auto switch (like every pair before it that supported two paired devices) or sometimes you have to use the button to switch devices. A button to switch between two devices was actually a great idea, audio will often get “stuck” on my computer or phone. The issue arises when it just sucks to use. The button worked maybe 10% of the time. Half of the time it would say my laptops name, and then I’d press it again and it would just keep saying my laptops name. The button just sucks, and I really can’t emphasize how much this ruins otherwise good headphones for me. Also the touch controls are kinda janky

I love BOSE products. But this new headphone is not for me. If I tilt my head forward or lean back for more than 5 seconds, they disconnect from whatever I am listening too or watching. Then I have to turn them off and reconnect them to the source again. Very annoying. When they are connected, the sound is awesome. BOSE needs to allow 30 seconds before the connection is broken. Going back to the style I had before this purchase.

It's really comfortable, and the sound quality seems great on my phone. However, when I connected it to my PC via Bluetooth the sound quality wasn't very good at all. No headset gets sound right like BOSE does though so if you are an in home headphone listener look no further, if you are ever outside, connecting to multiple devices or looking for a gaming headset look elsewhere. 2 stars because they slid off the trunk of my car and broke the first fall, cant be a 450$ product if you break from a 4ft drop.

I appreciated the comfort and build quality of these headphones. The sound and noise canceling was excellent, however, I could not keep these headphones as I wear mine all night long, but these Bose would not stop going into sleep mode and disabling the noise canceling! And there is no setting to disable the sleep mode. Apparently, when the headphones decide that there has been no movement, they go into a low power sleep mode. That is not the same as powering off completely, would you can set a timer for . So for me, that was a dealbreaker and I went with a Sony headphones that allow me to leave them on all night.
