I bought two SoundLink Flex (2nd Gen) speakers, and initially they were great. The sound quality is excellent for the size and the build feels premium. The stereo pairing works well, which is why I bought two. However, a software update removed the spoken battery level announcement and effectively eliminated speakerphone functionality. The battery change is a major problem for my setup. I often use these speakers paired with an Amazon Echo via Bluetooth, and now there is no practical way to check battery level without disconnecting and reconnecting to the Bose app. Previously, I could press a button and hear the exact percentage instantly. Now I get a vague tone at 10%, which is not useful. Speakerphone support being removed is another example of functionality being taken away, even if I didn’t rely on it as much. On Best Buy’s product page, speakerphone capability is still listed as a feature, which makes this even more frustrating. The bigger issue is that Bose is willing to reduce features through automatic updates with no option to opt out or roll back. That’s concerning for a product at this price point. Buyers should be aware that what you purchase today may not be what you have tomorrow.

Since it’s a Bose, sound quality is good for the price. However I wouldn’t recommend this speaker at all if you want to listen to high volumes or songs with exciting choruses or beat drops that you really want loud. The speaker seemingly lowers its volume on its own and completely takes the excitement out of the best part of songs, And then will turn back up after. I’m not sure if it’s the speaker trying to protect itself or if this isn’t an intended thing, but it’s a huge drawback for me.

Hello, Roseann. Thank you for sharing your experience with the Bose SoundLink Flex Portable Speaker (2nd Gen); we understand that battery life was a key reason for choosing this model. Battery performance can vary based on everyday use, as higher volume levels, bass‑heavy music, and continuous Bluetooth streaming can reduce overall playtime, which may result in listening sessions closer to 5–6 hours. To help maximize battery performance, Bose recommends using moderate volume levels, fully charging the speaker before extended use, manually turning it off when not in use, and keeping the firmware updated through the Bose app to support optimal efficiency.

Not the sound quality I would expect from Boss. I did return this item. Unfortunately I love the color size and weight of this speaker but the sound was horrible. Also I purchased open box EXCELLENT and the speaker had several cosmetic defects and was missing the charge cord. Best Buy made me return the item if I wanted a cord. Not happy with Best Buy customer service!
