Hi Ross, thank you for sharing your experience with your Bose SoundLink Max Portable Bluetooth Speaker. We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying the sound quality and the ability to adjust settings in the Bose app, but we’re truly sorry to learn about the charging reliability concerns you’ve faced. Charging failures can sometimes be caused by issues such as debris in the charging port or insufficient power from the charging source. We recommend checking the port for dust or debris and ensuring the speaker is connected to a reliable power outlet.
For reference, the SoundLink Max Portable Speaker has a battery life of up to 20 hours at moderate volume and about 3 hours at maximum volume. The charge time is up to 5 hours when using a 3A (15W) power supply, though charging times may vary if a lower‑wattage supply is used.
If you’re experiencing shorter battery life or charging issues, here’s a helpful guide you can check out to help resolve the problem: https://bose.life/4r95ZSE

Great speaker. This is the second time the power button has broken. Only had it about 2 months and already having to go back and get it replaced.

This speaker's sound is elite. The battery is ok but after just 5 months the sound is distorted and crackling speakers. I'm sad.

Bought this portable for multiple uses. I have high parks for it when it works. . It's clear, powerful base, small and convenient force! However, it's consistently losing connection when using zoom or with laptop.... have to disconnect and then reconnect. For this 3 stars

I like the sound of Bose speakers, but this is not a good value. The sound only seems marginally better than the Flex, but the cost is 3 times as much. Quite a bit larger than the Flex, but the sound is still good for its size. Playing two of the Flex together is cheaper and a better experience though.

Hi John, I'm happy you like the Bose sound in general! It's true that some customers prefer the Max, while others go for the Flex. One advantage the Max has is the AUX port, which the Flex doesn't have. Also, the Max can be played for slightly longer before it needs charging (20 hours at moderate volume). I hope this information is useful! Warm regards, Fiona M. - Bose Customer Support

The bad: The battery life isn't all it's cracked up to be. Never gives an indication of greater than 60% and even when not in use, it drains much sooner than it should. I've had it on charge for 3 days straight and it still only indicates "battery at 60%." The good: It's loud and pretty clear for a powerful, portable bluetooth speaker. Conclusion: Until Bose is able to address the battery issue, this product isn't worth the $400. Stick with the Soundlink Flex for a fraction of the price with a battery that doesn't drain your pocketbook.

At low volume it's sound is decent. Higher volumes, it becomes muddy, indistinct, and the synthetic "bass" is very pronounced. I've owned a few of their products over the years, and for the price of this speaker I really expected more. I would consider myself to have detailed hearing but no audiophile. Seems to be built durably and the waterproof feature is a huge plus. Battery life is not the best if you aren't listening to it in a small cubicle

*Review of the Bose SoundLink Max** I bought the Bose SoundLink Max hoping to enhance my listening experience, especially given its high price and promised specifications. However, after several weeks of use, I feel disappointed by several aspects that do not justify the cost. **Pros:** 1. **Design:** The speaker has an elegant and compact design that integrates well into any space. The build quality seems robust. 2. **Connectivity:** It offers multiple connectivity options, including Bluetooth, aux, and USB, making it easy to use with various devices. **Cons:** 1. **Sound quality:** Despite the specifications, the sound quality is not that impressive. The bass is weak, and the highs tend to distort at high volumes. This is not what I expected from a speaker in this price range. 2. **Volume:** The maximum volume is lower than expected. In large or noisy environments, it fails to fill the space with enough sound. **Conclusion:** In summary, the Bose SoundLink Max does not meet expectations for its high price. Although it has an attractive design and good connectivity options, the sound quality and insufficient volume make it not worth recommending. For this price, I expected much more. --- I hope this version is useful for expressing your experience with the speaker.

Thank you for your detailed review of the SoundLink Max speaker! I'm happy that you like the robust design and flexible connectivity options of the speaker.
If you're finding that the sound doesn't offer enough bass, then aside from adjusting the bass controls on your connected device, try placing the speaker nearer a wall or corner, which will automatically boost the bass response.
Also, don't forget that our support team will be very happy to help you get the best out of your speaker, if needed: https://support.bose.com/s/get-help-landing-page?language=en_US.

I have the soundlink flex and i love that little speaker so naturally i wanted this guy when it came out. I figured it would have nice and deep bass in a small form factor since that is what bose is known for. It sounded good and the speaker did get loud but the bass for me was a bit lacking. Not sure what i was expecting but it should have sounded much bigger than it did to me. If you already own a flex just buy anorher one and stereo pair them, it will have a similar sound profile and be a little more flexible and portable, and cheaper.

Thanks for your review of the SoundLink Max speaker! I'm glad you liked the sound and volume overall. If bass is a little lacking, then moving the speaker closer to a wall or corner, or placing it on or near a hard surface, will automatically increase bass response. You can also adjust the bass and treble controls on your connected device, if possible. Our support team will also be on hand, should you require further assistance. I bought this hoping the 1/8" cable jack would playback in real time (i.e. - no delay like a bluetooth connection). Sadly, there was a delay, which forced me to return this product. For its size, it is very strong & loud. Very clear. Not loud enough to use as an extension speaker for a keyboard though.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. I understand how important real-time playback without delay is, especially when using an auxiliary cable. While it’s great to hear that the device is strong, loud, and clear for its size, I’m sorry the delay with the 1/8" cable didn't meet your expectations and led to your decision to return it. If you’re looking for a solution with minimal latency for real-time monitoring, I’d be happy to recommend other options that might better suit your needs. Please feel free to reach out if you'd like assistance!

I thought this would be a great first Bose item to purchase and was impressed by the clarity of the sound but that was quickly replaced by frustration at how difficult the item is to pair and how annoying it is to power off. I literally had to hold the power button down for 10-15 seconds or more to power it off. I had thought of gifting this item to some family members but decided against it as I was sure it would give them arthritis powering it on and off.

I like the sound quality and the soft rubber covering that helps device stay put instead of sliding off surface positions if bumped. However it is not simple to use. The store associate had to carry my phone and device for guidance to use from geek squad. And then the clerk did not share the details with me. He just said it was working with my phone now. I've looked everywhere, even utube for operation assistance. Their contribution is to show how to use Velcro strap and demonstrate the sound distortion if device is put in a bucket of water. Geez!!!! I have to monkey with it to get it to work properly even though it is paired to my phone and the device software is installed on my phone. I'm going to have to return to the Best Buy store, which is very inconvenient, to be shown how to operate the device quickly with out the stress. It only has 5 buttons. It should be quick and easy. It is overpriced despite the nice sound quality and design.

Decent sound, overpriced compared to the competition. Retaining strap does not hold very well. Would rather have the JBL clip over this unit.

Product performs as expected. Not lacking nor exceptional, simply as expected. Best Buy return policy of 15 days is overly restrictive. I will research other retailers before using best by in the future.

It’s a great product with good personal sound around you. The only the problem that I have is the plastic strap is too fragile that it ripped from a 3 feet drop

The quality is good but the case was to loud and even when I tried adjusting it through the app i still didn't like it, so I had to return it and bought Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 instead. And am very happy with it

I’m not sure if it was just the one I received, but once I would put the volume to max or close to max it would sound distorted. I even reduced the bass in the app to see if it would fix it and it still sounded bad. It is loud for a small speaker, but I couldn’t listen to it at max because of the issue I had with it.
