I will say this is an insane speaker. Straight forward bluetooth. No wifi or vocie assistant. Its designed strong and packs a punch. Its the perfect beach and pool speaker. It is not intended to be a home speaker which is why it lacks the sonos features. Bose does it again. Big sound. Small design! It is a luxary purchase as it had an intended function as an on the go speaker not a home speaker.

I bought this speaker in a desperate moment when my old bluetooth hands free calling device decided to give up the ghost early one morning. I needed to get a new device as soon as the store was open. I looked through the few they had in stock, and this one, although expensive, seemed like the best way to go. The sound quality is of course great, its Bose, the package is small and the battery lasts all day+. It hooks up to 2 cell phones at once. The controls are straight forward and the body of the speaker is rubbery so it generally stays put. That leads me to the drawbacks. There is no visor clip to hang the speaker. The rubber strap on the back of the unit is to small to attach the unit on anything. I realize it's made for backpack straps, but a little more give or adjustability would have made a big difference. As far as using it for calls, my end is great but people have had trouble hearing me in certain situations like on the highway at 75. Not a game ender but a little annoying. Overall I like the speaker. I'm gonna work on fashioning a visor clip, or some type of gluing to the dash of the truck. Don't regret the purchase, just need to work out a few bugs. But good speaker.

Nice speaker. Good sound quality.love the fact I can clip it just needs a more secure way to clip it. Not really good if you are using it to wear while walking/ working out.

The sound is great for such a small device. Battery life is only okay compared to the small Bluetooth speaker that I had previously (purchased via Amazon). I have not yet had to test the waterproof capabilities. Stone Blue color is exactly as pictured. I have added a photo to show how small the speaker is compared to my watch.

The sound quality is clear and balance what you excect from Bose. It produces good sound for its size. About 90% full volume the sound start getting a little muddy and dull. But i never need to turn it that loud. I usually use this speaker in the back of my rig for tailgating or take it with me on bike rides. It has a rubber strap on the back to make it easy to tie it down to different thing, including my MOLLE panel. I say the only negative is, it a little pricey and the battery life is not the greatest. But still give it a 4.5.

Bose performance and quality sound but for the price point, I was expecting a longer battery life. All in all I would buy it again. 4.5 of 5 stars (for the poor battery life)

The sound quality is decent. I use with my iPhone and I never put the volume above 80 percent or you will lose the base when listening to music. Much better with spoken word listening like podcasts and talk radio. Not the biggest fan of the strap as it has already started to lose elasticity after only a couple of stretches. Also the hook doesn’t hold that well without really hard tension and comes loose on its own. Definitely not the most secure like the carabiner on other speakers. Also it took damage pretty quickly on the back grill, not even sure what cause the damage. Good small speaker but definitely wait for sales.

I've held off on acquiring a Bluetooth speaker for quite a long time. After seeing the pros and cons of those owned by friends, I decided to give the Bose Soundlink Micro a try. I'm really pleased with this little guy. It has the sound quality we've come to expect from Bose. Nice midrange, highs that aren't tinny and decent bass (actually exceptional bass for its size). IThough sized for personal use, the volume has enough oomph for others to enjoy it while at pool party or hiking/biking. You can control the volume via your source (phone, computer or other Bluetooth origin) or via two indentations/buttons on the Bose. The Soundlink is covered in a satin silicone coating for resilience and waterproofing (IP7!) This means you can have it outdoors in the rain, or accidentally drop it into a puddle, ice chest or your drink (you know you have!) and it comes out like a champ. Of course, you shouldn't drop it because it has an integrated flexible strap allowing you to wrap it around a handlebar, backpack strap, etc. Another cool feature is that the Soundlink has a microphone so you can use it as a speakerphone. It looks good enough for an office environment. Pretty cool.

TLDR: For anyone looking for a portable Bluetooth speaker in the price range, you will most be happy with your purchase. As an owner of Bose Soundlink Color II, I was pretty excited to try out Bose’s latest offering. Right of the bat, the speaker gives a much fuller sound. With the larger size, you get a lot more bass than the Color II. Setup of the speaker was simple. Bose recommended performing a factory reset before pairing for the first time (holding + and – button for a few seconds). After resetting, I was able to connect the speaker to my iPhone. Next, I highly recommend downloading the latest Bose app and adding the speaker. The app has a few built-in guides that explain most of the speaker’s functionality and customizations you can perform. As a Spotify user, I like the fact that I can change the Shortcut button to directly launch Spotify. One thing I will say is that initially, I thought the sound from the speaker was a little harsh. Thankfully within the app you can customize the EQ. After a good amount of experimentation, I was able to find a configuration that sounded good to me. For reference, my settings are: Bass: +1 Mid: -3 Treble: +3 While I haven’t done any testing in this area, the speaker is IP67 rated, so you should be able to take it just about anywhere and not have to worry about the speaker getting wet or full of dust. The speaker also has some sensors to determine if it is wet, so you don’t plug it in while there is still some moisture in the USB port. Having an included USB-C cable and charger is a nice touch. You can also use the speaker as a power bank and charge your phone through the USB port. You can remove the carrying handle, but I am not sure why you would. Overall, after a bit of tweaking of the settings, I am happy with the speaker and would recommend it to most people. While it won’t replace my home theater setup, it does make for a good experience on the go.

Couldn't wait to get my hands on the new Bose Soundlink Max. Unboxing was as easy as it gets. After pulling the unit out of the box, I did a quick factory reset by holding the + and - buttons at the same time for about 5-10 seconds to make sure it was at its factory settings. I also already had the Bose app up and running on my iphone since I have other Bose products throughout the house that I control. If you don't have the app on your phone, I highly recommend doing that. It's very intuitive and makes it easy to connect via bluetooth and gives you control of volume and equalization of the device to your preferred sound quality settings. The speaker came charged at about 30%, so I would recommend charging it for the full 5 hours as recommended. Product has both a USB-C and auxiliary port, which also comes with the USB-C charger. Bose states the charge has a 20 hour battery life which is pretty exceptional. I have about 6 hours of use so far and battery life still seems good. Note: (I have not tested for the full 20 hours yet). One thing I like about this speaker is the ability to have two phones dual linked to the Soundlink Max. This is a feature I haven't seen before, but it comes in real handy when I'm busy grilling and my wife can control the music playlist without grabbing my iphone. The handle makes it super easy to transport from one location to another and reminds me of the old boom boxes I used to carry around in the 80's and 90's but with a more compact feel. Let's talk about the sound. This for me, is why I rated this new Bose portable speaker a 4 star rating. Since I own a lot of different speakers in my home like Sonos, Bose, and JBL, which all have great Sound quality in my opinion, I naturally have pretty high expectations. I will say the clean sound clarity which is well known in all Bose systems was consistent. The Bass in my opinion based off the size of the speaker was decent, but lacked punch. I was expecting a little more for the price point. Here are my final thoughts. You can never go wrong with a high quality and reputable brand such as Bose and with that, usually comes a higher price point. There are a lot of positive features with the new soundlink Max at the same time keeping the product simple, compact, and well made. If you are looking for a little stronger cleaner punch in the bass, I think you might find something out there and pay a little less.

After months of searching for the best outdoor speaker, I finally decided to purchase the Bose SoundLink Max. Here’s my honest review after using it for about 3 months. What I Love: - Impressive Sound Quality: The sound quality of the Bose SoundLink Max is truly remarkable. I’ve owned several Bluetooth speakers over the years, and this one stands out for its full, rich audio that captivates you and makes you stop what you’re doing to appreciate the music. The bass is deep and impactful without being muddy, while the vocals are crystal clear. I use it for a variety of occasions, from enjoying morning pump up music to hosting weekend pool parties, and it effortlessly handles everything crisp. - Bulletproof Build Quality: The build quality of the Bose SoundLink Max is impressive. The silicone coating gives it a premium feel, and I appreciate that I don’t have to be overly cautious with it. I’ve accidentally dropped it a few times, been caught in rainstorms, and even dipped it in the pool to clean some dirt off, and it still functions flawlessly. The IP67 rating is not just a marketing gimmick. - Exceptional Battery Life: Bose claims a battery life of 20 hours, but I consistently get closer to 22-24 hours of mixed volume listening. The reverse charging feature is a lifesaver when camping or at the beach. Being able to charge my phone directly from the speaker has saved me multiple times. The rope handle is well-designed. It’s comfortable to carry and feels sturdy. What Could Be Better: - High Price: The Bose SoundLink Max is quite expensive at $399. I managed to find it for $299 during a sale, which was the sweet spot for the price, but at full retail, it’s definitely an expensive purchase. - Slightly Heavier Than Expected: At almost 5 pounds, the speaker is heavier than I anticipated. It’s definitely noticeable when carrying it in a backpack. - Basic Bose App: The Bose app is basic. It offers a simple EQ and multiple speaker linking, and that’s about it. For Bose, I would expect more customization options. Other cheaper speaker companies provide significantly more app features. The charging and aux ports lack covers, which seems like an oversight for a rugged device. I know it’s waterproof, but I’m still always a bit weary. In real-world use, I primarily rely on this speaker for outdoor entertaining/poolside music. It fills my backyard (about 30x40 feet) with clear, crisp sound, and the wireless freedom allows me to place it anywhere. The aux input is convenient, and pairing with my phone is always instant and reliable. It also has options to connect to multiple phones at once, so if my phone leaves, my wife’s phone will automatically connect, which is great when the unexpected happens. Overall, if you can find it on sale for around $300, it’s a solid investment. The sound quality and build quality justify the cost at that price point. At full retail, you’re paying a premium for the Bose brand, but you do get premium performance. Just be prepared for the weight if portability is a major concern. Would I buy it again? Yes, but I’d definitely wait for another sale. It’s become my go to speaker for any situation where I want excellent sound. Recommendation: Wait for a discount, but don’t hesitate once the price drops to $300 or below.

I bought this product with the expectation that it would be a bass power house. I can for sure tell you it beat my expectation. Though its not the loudest kid on the block it for sure delivers crisp sound and amazingly good bass for its size of speakers. Now given its multiple speakers its battery life isnt as great at high volume. Now if you have it at a decent medium high volume it will last a good 6 to 8 hours on an single charge. Im a diesel tech and it delivers perfectly in a loud environment like mine. Made with good quality and a good battery. I cant forget the connectivity, with a long range i can walk awayy with my phone about 20 feet and it still plays really well. In essence the down side is the battery does drain quick at high volume but thats due to asking it for everything it has. Not the loudest but delivers great bass Not fully portable but great size for its sound. I will definitely continue to invest in Bose products.

Great sounds! deep base but expensive!! compared it to my soundcore motion boom plus and tbh its actually louder than this soundlink max!.. yes go on youtube and see reviews but all are done with in 2 feet distance. i placed both speakers against the wall in my garage and walked away about 20 ft. had the volume set the same on both and the montion boom plus was way louder!. will i keep the Bose yes.. only because i was able to price match and had some rearwards points. if it wasn't for the savings i would of returned this speaker the next day and stick with my soundcore speaker. buy it and try the distance review..

The SoundLink Max bolsters Bose’s reputation that “If it’s a Bose, it sounds awesome.” A three-band equalizer is included in the smartphone app. It has a few presets, but also allows manual setting of bass, midrange, and treble. Once pairing has been established, it connects automatically on power-up. A second device can be paired, and you can switch between the two. The thick, comfortable carrying handle just barely kept the speaker from fitting in the space I had intended. The handle is easily detachable, so that wasn’t a problem. The sound quality is unbelievable for a device this size. The downsides are few but not severe: FIRST: The only instructions actually included with the unit is inside the box. As you can see in photo 1, you are instructed to 1) charge the unit (without telling you exactly how you know when it is fully charged), 2) press the power button, and 3) connect to the unit with your smartphone and download an app for it, using the QR code. In my experience, Bluetooth devices need to be connected fairly quickly, before the pairing times out. This is exactly what happened to me, as I had to sign into the newly downloaded application, go back to my settings to select the unit, etc. Download and set up the app FIRST. SECOND: There is no owner’s manual. There was a 24-page booklet with regulatory information in seventeen languages. At the top of the first page, there is a QR code linked to Bose’s support website. [see photo 2] The website has everything, but you have to follow at least a couple links for every piece of information. Fortunately, it is not terribly difficult to find the link to the 40-page Owner’s Guide, but a link to that would have been very useful without having to chase it down. THIRD: When powering-up, the speaker “thumps” and announces its battery level. It is annoyingly loud. The announcement can be disabled in the Bose smartphone app, instead playing just the “thump” on power-up. It is still loud, but not as obtrusive. Overall, the SoundLink Max is an incredible speaker. Typical for Bose, the sound quality is unmatched in any other device in its class.

I have Echo Dots in the house and wanted something similar for outdoors. This is about the same size and the music quality is a bit better so it works fine for that. The battery life, sound quality and volume is what I would expect for a speaker at this price range. The unexpected use is listening to the music on the iPhone when I'm using my pickup that only has a CD player. I'm not just stuck listening to the radio or carrying CDs around! My only concern is that the strap looks a bit fragile but I haven't tried using it so maybe it will be fine.

Perfect replacement for the aging stereo system on my sailboat. Can bring up top, listen down below, carry it to the beach, you name it. It gets very loud if you want it to do so. Does take a while to completely charge, and I don't think the battery lasts as long as advertised, but it is a solid piece of kit, and hope it gives me years of use.

Purchased as a gift for my middle-school son who wanted something portable with better sound quality than a loud cell-phone. This definitely fits the bill, as the sound quality is excellent and what I would expect from a Bose product. Connecting to a smartphone or other Bluetooth device was quick and easy and my child was able to get the speaker up and running and listen to music without opening the manual. Although we have not tested its waterproofing feature, the black rubber shell seems thick, durable and likely to survive being dropped or banged around. The controls are minimal and self-explanatory, and the unit can be recharged with common USB cabling (which was included with the product). I am not sure how reliable the rudimentary clasping mechanism on the strap will be after some use and wear and tear but time will tell. The price seems a little high for what you get (hence the four-star rating) but I presume the "Bose" branding increases the price.
