These earphone are good looking and comfortable. For music is good. However, when you talk on the phone, the sound quality is poor. You sound like your far away or under water. After giving it 2 chances, I decided to not get another pair. I thought the first ones were defective, but the second pair were the same. Also, I often had difficulties connecting the to my phone or they would disconnect.

I really loved the look of these but the features were not what I was hoping for. The sound quality was good but I was having major issues with phone calls. Anytime I was on a phone call, the other person could never hear me. It was to a point where I felt as if I was shouting just so the microphone could pick up my voice. I’m not sure if it was user error but I don’t think there was much I could do to fix that issue. They also made my ears a bit sore when I wore them for too long. Unfortunately, I had to return them. I really wish I would’ve had a better experience with these!

On my second pair now because the prongs for charging get stuck and don't make a connection to the earbud for charging. The new pair does the same thing. Constant connection issues where only one bud connects to my phone, and the other doesn't. Also has overspray of the rubber coating on one of the connection tabs. Get caught playing the game of casing and uncasing until it finally works. A battery on full charge doesn't last more than 3 hours of play time. I was looking for a good set of open earbuds for long runs. These aint it!

Waste of money! Do not buy! I’ve had these headphones for almost 2 months and they consistently disconnect, there is a static noise every now and again, and they have the worst call quality. Do your research, these are horrible open ear headphones.

Positive notes first: ---- - The actual buds that go into your ears are comfortable, and the sound is great and seems to be very private while also allowing you to be aware of surroundings. I use it for hiking and trail running primarily. They stay put and are a great design themselves. The cons: ---- I was also a customer of BOSE for the Sports Open "over ear" series. Collectively: I have had to do 4 straight replacements of one variety of another with their products. For the sports open ear: I had to replace once two charging stands and a third replacement for a earpiece that went bad. For this new ultra setup: I now have my first charging case to replace. EACH of these replacements has occurred within 6 months to a year across the board. It was so frequent, in fact: that I remained within warranty with BOSE for all of my replacements of my BOSE sport. The bose ultra case managed to last me up until just past my 1 year anniversary with the product and so thus im stuck paying $100 for a replacement case on amazon. THeir charging stands and cases, simply put: are VERY cheap. You'll run into issues with the pins connecting or getting jammed into the small spaces. You'll feel the cheapness and how delicate they are. The only reason the bose ultra lasted the full year is I used them signifcantly less than my bose sport. Im confident they would've broken within first 6months to year as well had I used them as often as the sport open ear. BOSE is "getting away with this" with me as a customer simply by having a design that is superior to the competitors so far with open ear. However I cannot wait until competitors start to match them on good solutions for open ear wireless buds (not in-ear) because I am more than ready to ditch this brand. Their stuff simply does not last and you WILL be sending it back for a replacement if in warranty OR be replacing a case or bud soon enough. --- Note that for SOUND QUALITY, BATTERY LIFE, and CONNECTIVITY I'd give better star rating than "overall". Battery life I am giving a 2 star because in reality the battery charging is always an issue. However when you DO charge them the charge length is fine to get through a nice hike, etc. I've been happy with that piece when they actually work.

The audio quality on these Bose Ultra Open earbuds is superb for an open-ear design. Music sounds full and detailed, with clear vocals and a pleasantly spacious, natural soundstage that feels more like listening to small speakers than typical earbuds. Bluetooth interoperability has been mixed in my experience. They pair and perform well with a modern Android phone using a Qualcomm chipset, with stable connections and no major glitches. However, performance with a Windows laptop using an Intel Bluetooth chipset has been less than stellar, with occasional connection quirks and a generally less reliable experience. The dealbreaker for me is the microphone quality, which is truly awful. Whether connected to my Android phone or my Windows laptop, people on the other end of calls and Zoom meetings frequently complain that my voice sounds extremely faint and often cuts out entirely. Other non-Bose earbuds and headphones do not cause these issues on the same devices, so it appears specific to the Ultra Open earbuds. The mic pickup was so bad that I actually exchanged my first pair, thinking they were defective, but the replacement unit has identical problems. On the comfort front, these are reasonably comfortable and light, and I can wear them for extended periods. That said, they are not as comfortable as other clip-style earbuds I’ve used, and after a while I do notice some pressure on my ears. If you want outstanding open-ear sound and mainly listen to music or podcasts, these can be fantastic. But if you need reliable microphone performance for calls or meetings, I cannot recommend them.

Love these earbuds! They’re so sleek. Fit nicely around my ears, I think they’re pretty comfortable, great sound when not crackling. So far this is my second pair, 1st pair; crackling and popping noise when I adjusted it, I returned them for the white ones. Now the crackling is worse with my 2nd pair. It’s just terrible, sometimes it doesn’t crackle, but most of the time it’s almost every few mins for a couple of seconds. Also has like a Bluetooth glitch time to time, like it disconnects for a second and comes back on. I love these though, I can listen to music and still be aware of my surroundings. The whole reason why I wanted these but the crackling and popping noise, I’m not sure it’s entirely worth it. I am sad to be returning them once again.

The earbuds are great but the customer support is abysmal. They're very comfy and they sound great but I lost one of the earbuds on campus, which was entirely my fault. When I contacted their support to try to purchase a replacement earbud they informed me that they are factory paired and it is impossible to purchase a replacement. The only option they gave me was to purchase a new one at full price. After some discussion they did offer me a one-time discount to purchase a new set. However the purchase price was based on their original MSRP not what I purchased it which would have still been more expensive than what I paid at Best buy. I recommend avoiding any earbuds like these if this is their standard protocol.

Unfortunately this purchase has been real disappointing. The headphones fit great and are super light weight... However, the quality in sound is rough. The sound is hollow and even after adjusting all the settings the volume was never close to enough. I need an option thats not inear but, sound level sacrifice is just not worth it. Hope it works for someone else, this is not practical enough for me.

Here’s a shorter version: Good sound quality and very comfortable, but the right earbud completely stopped working after less than two years of minimal use. For a premium-priced Bose product, I expected much better durability. Really disappointing.

For what they cost it’s just not worth it. The sound is not so great and to listen to it with any background noise requires you to be at max volume. Good luck if someone talks to you at all… the phone your on might as well be over. Overall not worth the price but the shokz bone conduction ear buds if you want something like this for half the price

Purchased 31 Dec 2024 (unable to return it 60 days later). Charging issues within 30 days. The left earbud will not charge despite multiple troubleshooting recommendations from Best Buy, Bose, and the online forum. The electric prongs that charge the earbuds are small and frail and often get stuck in the down positions, resulting in no charging or mechanical issues that cannot be fixed. Opinion/Recommendation: DO NOT BUY. The original purchase price was 323, but now it's 229. This means inventory is too high, and realtors are adjusting due to poor performance sales and word-of-mouth opinions that aren't captured elsewhere. I bought Bose because I am a long-time customer. ( 2 x Bose mini sound link, sound bar, and earbuds). I'm moving on to Beats 2 based on online reviews. I didn't expect this issue within 30 days of owning the product, as this issue should have been resolved in testing/design.

Would not recommend for use in a gym. Maybe it's my own fault...for medical reasons, not supposed to insert anything into my ear canal. know they're not built for volume, but with the ambient noise/music in a gym atmosphere, they are just way too quiet. It's a struggle to even listen to a podcast. The connectivity is also surprisingly bad. The left earbud cuts out somewhat frequently, and if you cover your ear for any reason (like wiping sweat), the sound is interrupted...very strange.

They are not very compatible, don’t think it’s the headphones fault, more apples fault. Apple products only want to work well with Apple products. They do stay on my ear, super comfortable! But they disconnect every time, and when they die, no notification. They also suck when you’re outside, and trying to use them to talk on the phone. Majority of the time no one can hear you talking.

You get ONE star for a good sound quality. Just one! If you are thinking about buying open earbuds with good sound quality, these will do the job... but this is where it stops! If you are planning to make calls or be in calls, answer calls, or anything that's relating to phone calls - this are horrendous. Doubly bad when you're out exercising. People on the other end can't hear you, the call volume is VERY low... long story short, ONLY get these if you plan on making ZERO calls. There are many more open earbuds on the market that do both great sound and great call quality.
