Didn't realize what I was missing. I've been using speakers from the 1960s and they were okay then. I had a channel go out in my Onkyo AVR so I finally decided to upgrade my system. I already had a nice turntable (a late 60s AR) along with a decent CD player. But, I also had a whole lot of old vinyl that I really wanted to listen to on a good system, so I paired these with the Marantz Cinema 40 and I could not be happier. The sound, even without a subwoofer, is quite good with a nice (but not huge) low end. Running the TV through them (the Marantz automatically starts up when the TV is turned on) is incredible. The highs and middles are incredibly clean and I can now hear the TV really well without cranking it up - a pet peeve of my wife's. Even though these have a hefty price tag, I am really pleased that I finally spent the money to get high quality sound! I highly recommend these even with the price tag.

These speakers give the clearest separation of sound to give you Clarity of Mid range and solid bass with such a clear sound from the tweeter. If you can afford em, buy em. You will be impressed BEST OF THE BEST HERE WITH THESE SPEAKERS No kidding, I can have concert time with these speakers.

Beautifully minimalist, with subtle style touches that tie in some classic B&W design language. Airy and spacious sound. Light and dextrous. Every finish looks spectacular. A striking "heirloom" product.

Fantastically clear sound. I can hear all the little details that are quite often muffled or lost in most speakers. These details are clear even at low volumes. The best speakers I’ve ever owned.

The sound coming out of this speaker will not disappoint you - the quality and built are on the high side - have them for almost a month and they keep impressing me. Will defenetily recommend them

Well, let me start with the finish: this is a talking piece, and the lacquer mimics a fine piano. The front speakers protrude out, so it gives it a 3-dimensional look. The cone tweeter is a standout and attention-grabber and that is when I explain why it is not enclosed in the cabinet. I play Hans Zimmer from Apple Music / Apple TV, the room fills up with deep, rich bass, and the cone's amazing exhibits it function. Running this on a stereo mode still fills the room with 3 dimensional effect. I was powering this with Marantz MARANTZ SR6013 ( 3 channels driven) I realized the speaker could use more power. I am going to add an amplifier to power my front stage. I hear sounds and notes that I have not heard before . Great for home theater .

We have compared these towers with the MartinLogan Classic 9 ESLs ($7500/pair), and we like the new 702s better for their clean, well-delineated attack and decay. Electrostats are marvelously transparent, but they do not articulate musical and voiced passages quite as well as *high-end* dynamic speakers do. Also, the construction is first-rate on the B&W pair, whereas the ML pair had loose screws (on multiple pairs--in contrast to the new ML bookshelf speakers, which equal the build quality of the new B&W 700 line). This generation of the 700 series is superb (we also bought the new 706), whether powered by a McIntosh 462 amp or by a pair of Parasound A23+ amps (one for each channel), the 702 (or the 706) delivers immediacy with delicate and sensuous detail. Just be sure to give it high-end power. Avoid trying to get top performance from such a speaker by using low-grade or even mid-grade amps.

What amazing speakers. I am absolutely blown away by the sound coming from these things. I am hearing things in my music that I didn't even know were there. In addition to sounding great, they look amazing as well!

I had the choice between buying these speakers or paying for a kidney transplant for my girlfriend. I’m going to miss that girl. But I love these speakers!!! They do require a solid amp to power them, as they are power hungry, (using a Hegel H390) to power the pair, and my Marantz 6010 is powering the rest of my home theater. I’m hearing things in songs I didn’t recognize. The sound stage is beautiful, deep and dark. Also, these speakers blow away the previous version of these in the series, so if you’re debating between the S2 and S3 and can afford the S3, get them!

Best speaker for the price (got them on discount). You will need a good solid amp to make these shine, get a 300 watt per channel amp.

the title is a little self-serving but these speakers are striking sonically with an open and deep sound stage and depending on your music style have surprising bass.

Strong highs with good bass extension. Sound stage is not as wide which limits the seating for the sweet spot. Notice they need a powerful amp or they start to sound a bit muddy at lower volumes. I noticed this at the store when they were powered by a Mid tier AV Receiver but when I got them home and hooked them up to my dedicated amp. They sounded more detailed at lower volumes.
