This Cable Leader 3-prong power cord replacement pairs a molded NEMA 5-15P plug for standard 120V outlets with a pigtail open end: 2 in. of outer jacket removed and each conductor semi-stripped 1/2 in., with black (hot), white (neutral), and green (ground) leads ready for a terminal block. It is a UL Listed 10A 125V power cord (1250W) built from 18 AWG 3-conductor copper in a flexible SJT jacket, a light-duty 3-prong AC power cord and replacement appliance cord. Compatible with any 120V device drawing 10A or less that takes a 3-wire grounded cord, such as small appliances, fans, pumps, lamps, LED drivers, AC-DC power supplies, or a light-duty power tool up to 10A; for 11-15A loads choose the 14 AWG 15A version. Best for: power cord repair on low-current gear or a hardwire to plug-in conversion. Not for: microwaves, space heaters, loads over 10A, 2-wire devices, or in-wall wiring.
Replace a cut or frayed 3-prong cord instead of the whole device, or use it as the cord in a hardwire to plug-in conversion kit for equipment with screw terminals, such as an LED driver or AC-DC power supply (strain relief and wire connectors not included). Skip the screw-on electrical plug replacement: this replacement power cord has a factory-molded plug. Disconnect power before wiring, or have an electrician install it.
The molded NEMA 5-15P grounded plug fits standard 120-volt North American 3-prong outlets, and the UL Listed 18 AWG 3-conductor SJT copper cord is rated 10A at 125V (1250W). Check your device's nameplate before installing: it should read 10A or less, or 1250W or less. The green grounding conductor gives metal-cased equipment a path to ground, which a 2-wire cord cannot provide.
Works with any 120V device that takes a 3-wire grounded cord and draws 10A or less. Quick check: fan, pump, or lamp up to 10A - Yes; LED driver or power supply with screw terminals - Yes; microwave, space heater, or vacuum over 10A - No; garbage disposal, range hood, or dishwasher - No, code requires the maker's short cord kit. For 11-15A loads, use the 14 AWG 15A pigtail version. Not a surge protector.
The NEMA 5-15P plug is fully molded to the cord for strain relief and a firm grip in the outlet. The SJT power cable has a VW-1 flame-rated jacket and 105C-rated conductors, and stays flexible for routing through a strain-relief bushing or cord grip. At the open end, 2 in. of jacket is removed and each lead is semi-stripped 1/2 in.; the insulation tip stays on to protect the strands until you slide it off.
Each cord is sample-tested during production for continuity and correct wiring. Manufactured to RoHS environmental standards (lead, mercury, and cadmium-free).
