This power cord extension adds reach to a power cable you already own, or connects equipment straight to a rack outlet. The fully molded IEC 60320 C14 male plug mates with any C13 outlet on a PDU, UPS, surge protector, or the C13 end of an existing wall cord, while the C13 female end fits any device with a standard C14 power inlet - desktop computers, servers, network switches, monitors, printers and scanners. As an IEC C13 power cord built on heavy-duty 16 AWG three-conductor copper with a flexible SJT jacket rated to 105C (221F), this 3-prong extension power cord carries 13A at 250V, a full amp step above the 10A 18 AWG cords normally supplied in the box. Fully molded strain relief at both ends resists cracking where the cable meets the connector. UL Listed. Best for: extending a C14-inlet device to a PDU or UPS in a rack, data center or workstation, and replacing a lost or worn power cord extender. Not for: wall outlets - this cord has no NEMA plug; and not for C5, C15 or C19 inlets, or equipment drawing more than 13A.
Racks and workstations rarely place the outlet where the equipment ends up. This power extension cable adds the reach you need without swapping the cord that came with the device: plug the C14 end into any spare C13 outlet on a PDU, UPS or surge protector, or into the C13 end of the cord you already run to the wall, then plug the C13 end onto the device inlet. It also works as a replacement when the original cord is lost or worn.
Three 16 AWG stranded copper conductors carry 13 amps at up to 250 volts, compared with the 10A rating of the 18 AWG extension power cord usually bundled with equipment. The heavier gauge means less voltage drop over long runs and more headroom for power supplies that pull hard at startup. The SJT jacket is rated to 105C / 221F and stays flexible in warm, densely packed enclosures. UL Listed.
Both ends are 3-prong IEC 60320. The C14 end has three flat pins in a trapezoid; the C13 end is the matching socket. Quick check: device back panel has a three-pin trapezoid inlet - Yes. Both connectors are fully molded to the jacket with integrated strain relief, so the cable flexes at the point that normally cracks first on cut-price cords. The black SJT jacket is abrasion and moisture resistant, ties down cleanly in horizontal cable managers, and keeps its shape through repeated re-patching. Indoor rated for racks, data centers, offices and workstations.
