I wanted to buy a SLR camera to replace the one I had stolen years ago. While researching them, I stumbled upon this camera. Long story short, I bought this camera and am very happy with it. The SX410 has 20 megapixels, which is as much as many DSLR's have. The 40 times optical zoom allows me to take photos which are almost as nice as those I would get from a DSLR camera and big lens. However this camera is much smaller and lighter than any DSLR, as well as more portable, and easier to use. I have attached photos taken with this great camera.

While this is not as small or light weight as a number of cameras, it is smaller and lighter than most full sized cameras. Yet it performs like one of the big boys. Excellent long range zoom. Image stabilizer works well. High end for pixel count. Shoots HD movies. Plus it has the excellent optics and shooting programs that Canon is known for. We just got back from a trip overseas, and I couldn't be happier with the pictures (some of them shot on the fly as I was crossing the street). Shot excellent shots with just the low level available light inside several cathedrals, and produced clear first rate pictures. I only shot a couple of short movie shots, but they were of excellent quality. It lives up to it's name - Canon - and that's really saying something. The photo I am attaching was shot using available light and zoom lens .

For well lit and daytime pictures this camera works well, It takes nice shots but under bright sunshine it doesn't do as well as I had hoped. At night forget it. It is very difficult to focus at night and esp when using the zoom. For indoor pictures I would definitely use a flash. Overall it is a good camera for the money. But if you want more control of the picture look elsewhere, this has very little control over aprerature and f stop.

I bought it for my wife, to replace her older (palm size) Power Shot camera, she loves it. Takes great pictures right out of the box. Maybe now, that she messed up a few, she'll sit & read why some of her pictures could have been better. Overall fine camera, easy set-up, well worth the money

This camera was recommended by a friend who does photography based on our price range. We are happy with the quality of the pictures. The battery lasted most of the day while we were on vacation and shooting lots of pics.

Im so happy with this camera. I bought it for my sister who went on a trip overseas. It is lightweight easy to handle and takes great pictures. The zoom is fabulous and does not compromise the quality of the photo. Overall great choice for a casual camera user.

Excellent for a beginner. And excellent to use traveling: light, good pictures. I've loved that!!!

We live this camera, very easy to use. It's probably more on the beginner side though. One complaint though is the view screen is very pixalated

Fulfilled my criteria as travel camera and at a decent price. I was surprised at the lightness of it. Looked for but did not find a case designed for the body of this model.

I really wanted a camera to start taking picture of my new born and this work amazing all pictures are clear . And also ever compact and not bulky.

I bought this camera last minute and prayed it was good... It definitely worked and did everything I needed. Beautiful pictures and easy to use. Only down side was no connection cord to computer included. Otherwise a great Buy!

Purchased this camera for its great zoom in compact package. I have enjoyed my previous canon cameras and this one is just as good.

Bought this primarily to catch better quality photos and video than I could get with the camera on my phone. Does a great job! The zoom is perfect for auditorium and sporting events and still gives a quality picture.

Nice size for travel. Pretty simple operation. Slightly larger than I was looking for, but did a good job for it's intended purpose. If purchasing again for travel, would downsiz one step. Again, thinking of size & simplicity.

I purchased it during holiday season and got it on great price. Bringing it on trip doesn't take a lot of space and gives clear shots as well. Zooming is not bad for its camera size and it has a lot of features.

Sometimes it looks blurry through the screen, but the pictures come out clear. Long distance pictures come out very well. Highly recommend!!
