Q: Will the SX60 Cannon take good long range lanscape pictures
A: Yes it can, however I would strongly suggest a tri-pod for long zoom shots. Beyond 35x zoom it becomes nearly impossible to hold the camera still enough to focus. When I'm using this camera for long range zoom I always have a Monopod which helps a great deal and is much easier to carry arround than a tri-pod.
Q: What is the best memory Card
A: 64GB should be an ample amount of storage for casual use as you listed. We do a lot of touring and birding as you mentioned. We use two cameras. One is the SX60 and the other is a Canon T3i. The SX60 is probably used 2-3 times as much as the T3i. Some weeks we may take as many as 2,000+ pics. We use two different "Scandisk" cards. One is an 80mb/sec and the other is a 48mb/sec 32GB. We have used these cards for 6 months or so in both cameras and haven't encountered any problems. There was a high speed card available but our Best Buy associate said he didn't recommend it with our cameras. Hope this helps.
Q: How do you charge the. SX 60 and how do you upload to a Windows pc
A: Charging - Remove the battery and use the supplied charger. Upload to a Windows PC. You can use the WI-FI connectivity, or You can take the memory card out or You can use a standard USB to USB Mini cable. (not supplied) Instructions are in the manual available for download from Canon
A: Yes, It will save images in CR2 format, This is one of Canon's raw formats. Using RAW does prevent the use of the digital zoom features.
Q: Need to email photos frequently-can this camera downsize to 640 x 480?
A: Yes, the SX60 will take photos at 640 x 480 (0.3 MP) resolution, along with 19 other switchable sizes ranging from 4608 x 3456 (15.9 MP) down to 384 x 480 (0.2 MP).
Q: Does this camera have a tripod mount?
A: Yes. It has a tripod mount. I used it for Christmas. Worked great!
Q: Will this camera be able to take video at a concert with sound and picture ?
A: Yes. It depends on your purpose of recording. If you are recording it for personal purposes, then you can do it with what you have in this camera. If you are doing it for professional purposes, you should use external mic for better audio recording.
A: Digital zoom is basically the computer in the camera zooming in. You lose a lot of quality. This cam has a 65x or 1350mm lens. You don't need the digital zoom. I bought the camera and immediately disabled the digital.
