The Canon XA70 Professional UHD 4K Camcorder is a compact, lightweight camcorder designed for ENG style documentary and journalism production, featuring UHD 4K capture, a 1 inch CMOS sensor, two XLR audio inputs, and a mini HDMI output. Updated from the XA55, it adds a larger 3.5 inch LCD capacitive touchscreen, a higher resolution tilting 0.36 inch OLED electronic viewfinder, OSD metadata recording, and a fast USB C video only output with UVC support for livestreaming to a computer. The integrated lens provides a 15x HD optical zoom, a nine bladed circular iris for smoother highlights, and Wide DR gamma support for low light recording. Pro features include Dual Pixel and contrast autofocus, fast and slow motion recording, full manual controls, optical and electronic image stabilization, a 3.5 inch touchscreen LCD, user assignable buttons, infrared mode, and a DIGIC DV 6 processor for high sensitivity and low noise. Monitoring tools include zebra, color bars, and test tone, plus a built in neutral density filter mechanism for exposure control. Recording formats include XF AVC and MP4, capturing UHD 4K up to 30p and Full HD up to 1080p60 to dual SD card slots with relay or simultaneous recording. The mini HDMI output supports up to 1920 x 1080p 10 bit 4:2:2 at 59.94 fps. Audio supports up to four channels of LPCM with manual or automatic level control, two XLR inputs with phantom power, and a 3.5mm stereo mini input.
