The great bandleader and saxophonist Charlie Singleton's classic take on the time-honored instrumental standard InchDeep Purple,Inch featuring some high register scatting from vocalist Hattie Green, first appeared on a 78 RPM single from the New York City based Atlas tag in 1952. On the B-side was a Singleton instrumental original titled InchOcean Liner,Inch an elegantly funky affair that features Singleton's wonderfully laid back saxophone against a sympathetic, buoyant rhythm section. Both tracks have been remastered for this with the InchlostInch Ocean Liner finally made available in the digital domain.
