When it comes to a greater understanding of the golden age of the euro-disco movement of the 1970s through the 80s, there are few dance music collectives on the scene today that are more knowledgeable on the subject than the Crescent Street Hustlers. On their excellent debut album, InchThe Disco Sound of MontrealInch - their first for the newly revived Afro Wax imprint, they paid tribute to the Montreal disco scene of the late 1970s, focusing on the original artists that made the Montreal scene pop. On their latest endeavor, InchThe Disco Sound Of Europe,Inch the map is drawn wider as they use the same formula to bring the Euro-disco phenomena of the 1970s and 80s into greater focus by taking some of their favorite hits of the era and remaking them in their own image. All songs chosen were among the most iconic of the era such as the French euro disco group, Bimbo Jet's 1974 smash InchEl Bimbo,Inch the Belgian Latin disco group Two Man Sound's 1981 euro-disco hit InchCapital Tropical,Inch InchChinese Kung FuInch from the French disco mavens Banzai, the 1976 hit InchIsabelle And The RainInch from the famed French musician and orchestrator Jo Boyer, InchLove & DevotionInch - the 1986 Hi NRG hit from the disco act Michael Bow from the stable of Belgian production wiz Fonny de Wulf, the early synth pop of Rofo (Ronnie Verrept & Fonny de Wulf) from 1982, the Caribbean flavor of Chocolat's InchThe Kings of ClubsInch from 1976, and the disco/synthpop of Stop and their 1985 international smash, InchWake Up.Inch Much love and attention were paid to each track, which reflects the adventurous spirit and deep devotion that the Crescent Street Hustlers brought to this ambitious project - which relies on the past to build a more perfect future of dance music.
