About this product

In South Africa, village minister Stephen Kumalo (Canada Lee) was entreated by young Johannesburg priest Theophilus Msimangu (Sidney Poitier) to come to the big city-and the side of Kumalo's ailing sister Gertrude (Ribbon Dhlamini). While also hoping to find his long-absent son Absolom (Lionel Ngakane) there, nothing could have braced the elder clergyman for his family's present circumstances. Zoltan Korda's acclaimed take on the Alan Paton novel co-stars Joyce Carey, Charles Carson. 103 min. Standard; Soundtrack English; Subtitles English; audio commentary; featurette.
