With 8 surge-protected outlets, including 4 widely spaced outlets, this CyberPower SX650G 650VA battery back-up system guards against power spikes and provides up to 8 minutes of run time, so connected devices shut down properly during a power failure.
A: The answer is (sorry about this): YES and NO. The unit does have a removable 12 sealed lead acid battery (the company won't tell you the model number)...However, the bottom of the case is secured by a small, special "TORX-XZN" tamper-proof screw, which can only be removed with a special tool. Tech support told me that they (Cyberpower Company) can replace the battery if it fails, or gets too old to work anymore...NOT you, the end user. Thank you.
A: Yes, this UPS can be configured to shut down you PC automatically if there is a power failure. It has a USB port that can be connected to your PC and a free download for PowerPanel Personal software you can load on to your PC and use to setup your shutdown instructions.
Q: How long will the battery run when power is off. It will be connected to a computer and phone.
A: It depends on how many of the 4 battery back-up sockets you are using and how much power your devices are using when a power failure occurs. I use 3 of these sockets (computer with i7 processor, monitor, and back-up hard drive) and had enough time to save the files I was working on, close all open windows, and shut down my computer. However, I did not test the extremes for the battery. According to the User Guide, the battery runtimes range from 65 minutes for a DVR that is recording, to 18 minutes for a 21" iMac computer, to 6 minutes for a 32" LCD TV and PS3 console. These times are similar to the competitor's times, and plenty of time to back up files, close programs and shut down devices safely. Hope this helps. Bob
A: Most cable modems operate at 10-20W. Assuming 20W, you will get approximately an hour of run-time depending on environmental conditions. If you look at your power transformer (power supply for your cable modem), there will be an output voltage and amperage listed. Take the volts times the amps to get your actual wattage.
A: No, you need to manually reset it
A: I can't believe the answers I have seen here! How useless! That power supply needs two Expert Power EXP1290 batteries. They are 12V 9Ah / 20HR batteries and cost me $45.07 plus tax on Amazon on 7/1/2024. (With "Bidenflation" it'll likely soon cost you twice as much.) You could get an equivalent battery, but it must be approximately 2.56" x 5.94" x 3.7" to fit inside the unit. Hopefully, this will save someone some time as I had to do a bit of research to find it.
