Unfortunately I've had this device crash my computer more than it saved it. Without the power going out, it has dropped power to my computer unexpectedly, the same as unplugging my computer from the wall. If the power had gone out, the battery should have kicked in, but it wasn't power outages, just a failure of the UPS to work at all. I can recall it saving my computer 1 time from an outage and it surprised me. But what good is a UPS if it caused more shutdowns than it's prevented? I would have been better off plugging into the wall and suffering the 2 or so REAL outages than the 10 or so failures. I am saving to replace it as soon as I can and am going to use it as a backup for my monitor. On the plus sides, when it works it is helpful and the voltage regulation provided helped in some poorer houses I was in (though the regulation is not as good as some more expensive models). I expect if you're willing to try and get one that works, then it would be great. I wont risk it again myself.

I run small office with 6 of these but 3 maybe now 4 have failed. Battery lasts a few years, but when it goes...it just shuts down! Have tried to get battery to replace but cost is $25 and $15 to ship!!! can just go to store and buy new one for a few bucks more! Will probably look to get different one online with free shipping...

Owned it for 2 days and first time I plugged my PC and DVR it worked but then after installing the software and ran the self test there I realized that the battery capacity is inaccurate as one self test shuts down everything and when my pc reboots gives me a 33% battery capacity and 1 min of usage that is from a 100% battery capacity before self test

You get what you pay for. This unit shuts itself off at random and won't power back-on until all the plugs from the attached devices have been removed. I've used TrippLite's also with mixed results. I'm going back to and staying with APC.
