This receiver is amazing!!! I started off by purchasing the aventage A2A because I have both a Ps5 and a series x and wanted the 4K 120hz support. Well neither system would pass 120hz on it even with the latest firmware, and I was underwhelmed by the sound of it so I returned it for this receiver. I couldn’t be happier! The sound quality is leaps and bounds better, the audessy setup with dual subwoofers is exactly what I was looking for, and all the customizations make this the best receiver I’ve ever owned. BUT ON TOP OF THAT- after upgrading it to the latest firmware I hooked my Ps5 up to the 8k port and it passed 4K 120hz perfectly! Now for the crazy part... I was resigned to the fact that I would just run my series x at 4K 60hz due to all the issues of heard about these receivers chipsets incompatibility with uncompressed 4K 120hz. I plugged my series x into hdmi 2 on the receiver, powered it on abs checked the video settings AND IT WAS PASSING 4K 120hz AS WELL!!! I’m nor sure how it’s doing it, but it’s doing it and it was just the icing on the cake! I highly recommend!!!!

Upgrading my soundbar to a more powerful 5.1 home theater setup meant choosing an AVR and navigating sometimes contradictory professional and consumer reviews. This AVR's stellar reputation and capabilities for the latest formats led me to pick it up and I'm glad that I did. Setting it up was intuitive and easy; and I appreciated the Audyssey calibration. This system drives an all-Klipsch speaker suite, including RP-600C center channel, a pair of RP-6000F front speakers, a pair of RP-402S surrounds, and an SPL-100 subwoofer. I run everything through the receiver, primarily a Shield TV for most movie and television content and an Xbox One X for 4K Blu-ray movies. I do not plan on using the 120Hz refresh rate on next-gen gaming systems anytime soon, hence I was unbothered purchasing this system after that issue was identified. So far, the system sounds great, performs without issue, and is reliable and easy to use. Will update if I experience any issues, but would recommend this unit to others.

This thing rocks. In my opinion, you shouldn’t settle for less. The room correction in this unit is dramatically better than what comes before it, and that alone is worth it. (See the attached photo to see the amazing cleanup you get from the room correction.) Other than that it has various conveniences: trigger for the subwoofer, zone 2, phono, and so on. This might seem ridiculous to some people reading this, but the main problem with it in my opinion is that the front panel’s display only has one line of text. This means that it can be very difficult to navigate menus without using a TV, and names of sources get truncated to 5 characters. For example, “Nintendo” turns into “Ninte”, which is pretty unaesthetic. You can get 2 lines of text by upgrading to x4700h, but I wish they would not be cheaping out on the display for a $1500 piece of hardware. That’s why I’m saying 4/5 stars. If you don’t mind this detail and if the number of channels supported matches what you’re looking for, then I wholeheartedly recommend this unit. Personally I loved it enough to upgrade to x4700h, partly because of the 1 line of text issue.

What I can tell you is that I’m not an expert at home audio but I tried the 960 model first and returned it (thank you Best Buy! You guys were great!) It just didn’t have the power or the connections I was looking for but this machine made me smile after hooking it up and listening to it. Pairing it up with a set of SVS ULTRA BOOKSHELF SPEAKERS AND AN SVS ULTRA CENTER CHANNEL. This combination is nothing short of AMAZING! I am so satisfied with this unit I can’t tell you how happy I am with these purchases I made with Best Buy. Thank you

The X3700H produces undistorted, detailed, rich sound in stereo mode, through the front left and right speakers. I bought it to replace my X3500H, because stereo music sounded harsh and distorted. I highly recommend the X3700H for stereo reproduction. However, the X3700H, and apparently all Denon and Marantz models made after November 2020, have an issue with dialog bleeding through to all surround and atmos speakers, when the source signal is stereo, and is converted by the AVR to 5.1. My X3700H has this issue, and the result is unacceptably distorted dialog to the Dolby Atmos speakers and surround speakers. (See attached screen capture from Denon website). I can't listen to anything in 5.1; I have to use DTS:X. I'm confident this issue will be resolved by Dolby and Denon.

I purchased the AVR-X3700H as it was the lowest price model to include Denon’s Pre-Amplifier Mode. I'm using the Denon AVR in a 5.2.2 Home Theater System, and it primarily serves in a pre-out role to an Outlaw Five-Channel Amplifer. The Denon does power two Dolby Atmos Height Speakers, with two rear Atmos Height Speakers to be added later. As a Pre-amp the Denon amplifier section is completely disconnected and un-powered, so in this mode the receiver should be providing a much cleaner signal to an external amplifier, so far I'm unable to detect any coloration or noise. However, since I haven't used the internal amplifiers, they may produce the same results, just at lower output levels. Also, haven't used any of its streaming apps, but have used it extensively to play DTS:X, Dolby Digital and Dolby Atmos Surround Sound Media. I manually tweaked the Audyssey Setup setting for Speaker Sizes, their individual Crossover Settings, Speaker Distances, and individual Speaker and both Subwoofer Volumes with an SPL Meter. It's especially nice that you can an adjust Subwoofer 1 and 2 volumes independently, and then adjust their combined volume level. The fine tuning of its settings allows me to have a receiver that is exceptional at providing a completely engaging and enveloping Surround Sound and Atmos experience. It also performs great when called upon to deliver audio only music in 2-channel or multi-channel modes. This receiver and my recent Best Buy purchase of a Samsung 55" Q80B Smart TV are paired with a Sony UBP-X700/M 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player, resulting in my video and audio experience being raised to an amazing new level!

Excellent receiver and delivers a great picture. Replaced an older Denon and much easier to setup.

Couldn't be happier. Better than previous models with connectivity, blu tooth, etc. Easier to use overall as well than previous models too.

Plenty of power, great room correction, robust format support. Only downside is that only ONE input supports 4K120hz. If you own more than one device that supports this then you’ve got a decision to make… the rest of the inputs are indeed HDMI 2.1 but not capable of 8K/60hz or 4K/120. Covid price hike sucks.. but this should be a buy once a decade kind of expense.

This AVR has a ton of features; 9.2 channel ready, Atmos compatible, IMAX compatible, 105watts in all 9 channels, and pretty much all the same features as the S960H that I took back to B.B. There is way more power than will normally use, but I can use 2 of the channels for stereo in another room/outside. The sound quality is fantastic, much more so than the Pioneer Elite series it replaced. Setup is menu driven using the remote and is both easy and quickly done. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the remote cannot be programmed to control external devices.

I've had many receivers over the years (too many to count) and this is the best one I've ever had. I'm not going to get into all the pros and cons (2) because there are none of serious note. Suffice to say that I'd buy this receiver again and highly recommend it to others. It is powerful, functional, and the setup is exceptionally user-friendly. Regarding the cons: it runs HOT!, even in my unenclosed cabinet. Easy solution is a cooling fan from ACinfinity. Placed on top of the 3700H and problem. They have solutions for all setups. The second con is that the remote does not have a dimmer button. You have to delve into the settings to do this. Lastly, if you are really debating what AVR to buy you cannot go wrong buying this one, and you will not be sorry you did.

I purchased this receiver last week to replace a Pioneer Elite VSX-LX503 that did not have all the functionality that this one has. I recently bought a miniDSP 2x4 HD and a miniDSP UMIK-1 to use with REW to calibrate my subs and mains with. The Denon has the ability to set the individual crossovers to what you would like, and the Pioneer doesn't which makes it tough to fine tune it. So far the Denon is all that I could ask for, it is easy to setup, and even though it only has 105W per channel (2 channels driven), even running 5.2.4 Atmos it is more than enough. I have a Emotiva 5 channel amp powering the LCR, but this is not needed for a small to medium size room. The Audyssey setup works very well, and i prefer it over the MCACC that Pioneer uses. You still have to do some fine tuning, but turns out very well in the end. It is always good to gain match all of your speakers, but not needed for normal users. Overall for the price, and the features it is a great buy, if you need more power, go for the x4700, but the features are the same, except the 4700 has Aura 3d and the x3700 doesn't. They both have the ability though to use them as a preamp now, and use external amps to power your speakers and just use the receiver as a pre/pro which is nice. I am not a gamer so won't comment on the 4k/120hz not working properly at this time, i tested it and it did not work for me properly. hopefully a firmware update coming in the future. only real gripe so far is the remote is not backlit, which makes finding buttons in a dark room a pain

So far I am enjoying this receiver, but there are some quirks about it that make it less than perfect. On the positive side, the HDMI 2.1 port and ability to handle 8K, along with 9.2 channel capability makes the receiver flexible to handle future standards that aren't even widely available yet. I will use this with a PS5, and get a 4K tv to use its full range of abilities. The sound is good, and even through the watts rating is lower than my previous receiver, it's still plenty loud. The downside is the lack of documentation that comes in the box - I had to look up the back panel wiring diagram online just to wire it correctly, which was a pain. The remote is very basic, I'm assuming they expect people to download the app, which is helpful, but not super intuitive. In general, I've found the documentation to be disappointing.

Prior to this reciever I had a yamaha advantage RX-A830 and it seems the hdmi panel died on it (common issue for that generation). Anyway, i am so satisfied with this reciever on many levels. I found it super easy to set up and very intuitive. I wasn't surprised to see the menu on the reciever as others who gave it negative reviews. Once you set everything up you barely need to use it and I rather the energy spent on the audio quality rather than a main menu you are never going to use on a frequent basis. Here are the few things I like compared to my last pricey magnolia reciever: --i like that it knows exactly what is plugged into it and displays automatically (e.i. Xbox, Nintendo switch, Verizon cable). --i like that you can hide the unused inputs instead of having to flip through them. --i like that it has a phono input... shouldn't they all??? --i like that you can actually have a 11.2 channel hook up with this reciever although they just advertise 9.2.. guess the wattage wouldn't be as impressive for the price if advertised differently? Who knows. Finally, I have a 9.2 hook up currently with this reciever. It sounds AWESOME. I have definitive technology speakers and klipsch for the height.

This was not an easy decision for me. I did plenty of research. It came down to this Denon x3700h or a Yamaha rx-a1080 for my set up. For reference, I am hooking it up to SVS Prime Pinnacle Towers, SVS Ultra Center, rear satellites, sb 2000 pro sub and a Sony A9g with Sony 4k DVD player. I actually bought both. I got them for the same price at the time so it was simply comparing the receivers head to head. Full transparency I wanted to love the Yamaha. I just kept reading reviews of the Denon x3700h and had to hear it for myself before my window of return closed. Out of the box the build quality on the Yamaha seems better? The feel of the casing, the look of the connections. It looked like a better receiver side by side. I have bananas plugs so I set up both receivers (ran Audyssey and YPAO). I watched movies, I listened to music... Did this for weeks. I had my wife and kids come in and vote. No matter what I did I could not get the Yamaha to sound like the Denon. The surround sound was fuller, more realistic on the Denon. The center channel wasn't overpowered yet was clear and detailed... more than the Yamaha. I went into all the settings multiple times and tried to get the Yamaha to out perform the Denon... I just couldn't. Maybe it was my room or maybe I didn't fully know what I was doing, but I did know that the family votes were 4-0 for the Denon. I honestly was a little bummed. I actually wanted to keep the Yamaha. In the end my ears won out and I kept the Denon and haven't regretted it. It does run hotter than the Yamaha. I ended up getting an AC Infinity T8 to keep it cool. Get one... keep it cool and you won't be disappointed.

this good middle of the road avr receiver. its easy to set up with good sound and enough power to get the job done. Also have enough hmdi to get handle all you extra and add on equipment. the adyssey speaker and surround system works great and easy to walk through.
