While I think the movie is excellent and the artwork on the steelbook is beautiful, the steelbook did arrive with some cosmetic damage. My understanding is that this was not an isolated issue with this release. Also, when I played the 4K disc it froze about 3/4 of the way through the film though that could be an issue with my Sony player

I had high hopes for this film especially for the cast that this film has. I personally thought it was kinda of boring and slow. I thought it was going to be way more full of action. I might have to rewatch it again to see if I understand it more thoroughly and to see If it grows on me. Everyone has different taste at the end of the day. I noticed a lot of hype for this film which was another reason why I watched it. As for the steelbook it’s kind of plain to my liking.

I am a huge Dune fan and have read all of the books from the original storyline. I also own the other 2 Dune movies. Doesn't live up to the hype. Movie is well done as a movie, it does explain the background of the story better than the 1984 movie, but also skips a lot of information that is key to the story line. For instance, the Shadot Mapes role was for more than what was shown, the scene where Leto's father saves the harvester workers over the spice. Liet made a comment about Letos father saving the people versus the harvester, which later played a main role in the Fremen trusting the Atreides.

i saw in theatres with friends, fell asleep watching it, so I bought the movie to rewatch and see with my brothersm I still have the same thoughts, just a big borinc epic, it needs the 2nd part in order to make the story complete, but I enjoy it on subsequent viewings, which is a good sign. Never read the books, so that mightve helped my enjoyment levels.Qualitt of the packaging was great, Im picky about that, and it is very visually stunning, but the over valie of the film, not worth the original high asking price, I onlt got it as it was on sale

VFX is great, the story is good, but the pace takes a while to bring you to where they wanted to, and then...done until the next one. Not impressed and it was one reason why I didn't like the first version. You are just left hanging, wondering if they will ever make a follow-up, which they never did the first time, so...

To give credit to the filmmakers, they made some of the dryest part of the books interesting. With that being said, the movie felt pretty long at its current runtime.

As a movie, this release would have rated a 5-star review, but the 3D transfer is horrible. As a rule, I'd say that dark movies aren't suitable for current home 3D technology, but Star Wars: The Force Awakens proved it can be done. Dune is by far the worst 3D transfer I've ever bought, and I thought Star Trek: Into Darkness was pretty bad. It's really a shame, because as a movie, Dune was superb. Not that many people still have 3D TV sets anymore and it's really a shame that 3D was never implemented in combination with 4K HDR. One shouldn't have to go to a theater to enjoy a 3D movie in 3D. When done well, 3D only serves to enhance the moviegoing experience. Most would agree that Avitar is the gold standard when it comes to 3D movies, but Star Trek and Beyond comes close. With a truly great 3D transfer, one shouldn't even be aware that they're wearing 3D glasses. The third dimension should disappear into the movie, becoming a part of it in a way that's completely transparent, and nothing should be lost in the process. With Dune, that's far from the case. I found myself constantly removing the 3D glasses just to see what was going on in the movie. I have the last model plasma display that Panasonic made, which arguably had the best picture ever available in a 3D-capable set. The picture is adjusted to perfection, yet critical details from the movie were lost in the darkness. Even with removing my glasses, I still couldn't see details that were readily apparent in the included 2D Blu-ray version. 3D imaging cuts the available light in any viewing experience by half, even in theaters, and most 3D transfers compensate for this by boosting the brightness of the darker scenes. If there was any dynamic range compression in Dune, it certainly wasn't evident at all. It nearly spoiled the movie entirely. Going back and watching the 2D Blu-ray disc, it's evident that Dune is one of the great sci-fi movies of all time. This is nothing like the 1980s version, which left me wondering what was so great about a book I'd yet to read at the time. This remake is truly epic, whetting my appetite for the second part yet to come.

The movie was a little long and drawn out with a part 1 and needs a part 2. It is a visual appealing and the sound is good.

I Streamed this movie in standard definition in October 2021 and was not happy with the look of movie. I bought the physical media when released to give it another look in its best possible quality and was pleased with the look of the movie on disc. The picture is sharp and clear with a bit of a sepia look to the color palate. The sound track is clear and room filling and Low frequency is good. the movie ,itself though is overrated and low energy.

Since this is seemingly the beginning of a series of movies it took some time to build the cast. Can't say if it followed the original story line as I don't remember the first movie but it is interesting enough to have a few viewings and wait for the rest of the story to unfold.

They give this movie at three stars because of the changes to the storyline, as well as leaving a fan of the Dune series of books hanging by ending halfway through the first book. As for the acting special effects and all visual aspects of the movie it is superb.

This is a visually stunning but kinda slow film. Unfortunately this is probably due to the nature of it being the 1st half if the story with a sequel to come.

Jury is still out on this one. The cinematography is excellent, Rebecca Ferguson is magnificent. I prefer the original Dune with Kyle McGlaughlin. But this one will suffice.
