A little light on amps, but seems to work. Batteries do last a little but the device never shows full strength.

This is a pack of batteries. Wow! Open the package without slicing your finger in half and hope the batteries work. In this case they worked. Terribly exciting. So there you have it. If you prefer, next time I can explain the electro-chemistry behind the battery operation.
I would recommend this to a friend

Had the AA batteries and they seem to last longer than I expected. AAA was charged and stored for a week. When I put in my car remote ( takes a AAA ) the battery was already 1 link down. Lasted a week before I felt I should change it out.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

A bit pricey for marginally powerful AAA batteries

These need to be more powerful such as 950-1000 mah to be worth while. In my led flashlite they only last 2 hours.
