A: Hi Anna, this is Kelly with Dyson. This is a great question! Using the dock is completely optional; you do not need to use that. The dock itself doesn't provide charge to the battery. When using the wall mounted dock, the charger cable will thread behind it - one end plugs into your electrical outlet and the other end of the cable snaps into the dock so that when the machine is docked, it's receiving a charge. Q: How heavy does this actually feel when using it as a hand held?
