About This Item
With producer Jah Thomas at the helm, the Midnight Rock tag was home to many of the great voices of dancehall. Thomas made some of the earliest recordings for both Early B qnd Super Cat, and as the latter became the hottest name on the scene, Thomas lined up a showcase album featuring a side from each artist. Only a small number of white labels were pressed. Side A gathered up four of Early B's most well-loved cuts including InchVisit Of King SelassieInch, InchSunday DishInch, InchPedestrianInch and InchCane A Fe BathInch. It also included a track called InchSet Up Yourself RightInch, which was never released anywhere else. Side B featured the 5 cuts that Thomas had made with Super Cat, showing him fully formed even at this formative stage in his career. InchDance Inna New YorkInch has since had a second life since being sampled by Nas on InchThe DonInch, but every track from InchWay Dem A Fight FaInch through InchEver ReadyInch, to InchWalk A TonInch and InchMe Glad She GoneInch are a great combination between producer and vocalist. Presented on a striking and effective sleeve layout, evoking the records status as a lost white-tag classic, with stamped Midnight Rock logos across the sleeve and labels, this is a chance to own this elusive piece of reggae/dancehall history.
