You could run it from the wall with a usb wall charger such as for a smartphone. They are quite cheap these days. It requires usb to run, but that usb does not need to be from the computer.

Yes I also used velco to hold laptop to cooler.That way it won't slide around.

It has 2 usb ports on the back. The cool thing is that it is a pass through for your laptop. Therefore, it's just like plugging a usb device directly into your computer usb port.

This does not use batteries. It uses a USB cable, which connects the stand to your laptop. The stand comes with the USB cable. The stand also has 2 USB ports, one is used to power the stand while the other can be used to charge your phone/devices. I’ve attached a picture
