The refrigerator compartment contents may freeze. Do not install the refrigerator where the surrounding air temperature may reach 110°F (43°C) or above. The refrigerator and freezer compartments may rise to above normal operating temperatures. In researching, we were unable to locate any compact refrigerators that are recommended to be installed in area that goes below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Can this 4.5 cf refrigerator/freezer sit right on carpeting? Or is it better to have it on a hard smooth surface floor? I.e. Are there any vents on the bottom of the unit, or does the bottom get warm at all?
Answered by Curtis International Ltd.Hi Chris - it is recommended that the refrigerator/freezer sits on a hard surface. Carpeting if wet will get moldy, it is more difficult to level the appliance & a hard surface allows better ventilation. Though there are no air vents that exhaust out the underside of the unit, when the cooling fan is operating, carpet fibers could get sucked up by the fan and deposited on the motor and coils. The bottom does get warm.
