This is not a throw back. This is not someone singing about nature in it's simplist form. Natural environment does find it's way into Garrett's songs but not as much as the complexity of unanswered questions and chemical inbalances. A world between Tropic Of Cancer, and In An Aeroplane Over The Sea. Garrett has spent recent years in Echo Park, Davis, and now San Francisco. The music itself is comfortable and well executed by the help of bay area musicians Matt Bauer, Jolie Holland, Safa Shokrai (The Drift) Jake Mann (Zim-Zims), and mixed by Nigel Pavao (Last Of The Blacksmiths). The songs were recorded over six months in five seperate locations from studios to closets, with emphasis on subtlety and distance.
