When I first bought this, I loved it. It was the perfect size for my needs and I loves the stainless steel exterior. Worked great and looked great. About a year after purchase I started to notice little rust spots forming inside. Now the entire inside is full of rust and peeling paint. I have owned many microwaves over the years and have NEVER experienced a problem like this. Would definitely NOT recommend! (I did try contacting GE customer service, but it was outside the warranty window, so no help there!)

We had this microwave for 18 months. It’s not very powerful, but it’s small and it fits in the microwave cutout in my kitchen. It was ok until today when it actually caught fire! We only use it for reheating for short periods of time so I’m not sure what happened but it’s made it’s way to the garbage. Very disappointing.

We have had two and both started sparking and smoking from the wall during normal use. Last time, my daughter was melting chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. The wall of the unit started sparking and smoking. Black smoke poured out. I have included pictures of both units. Both flamed out in the same way. We will be taking this up with Best Buy and GE but wanted to warn others not to buy.

Beware of open box purchases. I received a microwave with a damaged part inside. I payed for an “excellent condition” device and got a fair condition device. Customer service WILL NOT provide any price adjustments over the phone or via chat, so the only options are to return the microwave, or exchange it in-store. No way to resolve this without wasting a bunch of time.

This microwave has not been working good at all. It is a piece of junk. Best buy should not be selling products like this to consumers. As you can see in the images, the microwave timer has ended and it was still going on. The timer is defaulted

Horrible!!! Started to rust out in a year. This pic is after a little over two years. Sad thing is this, so far, is the only stainless steel model that fits.

I'm in the process of replacing this microwave. We purchased it about 15 months ago (the label reads 2020, but we bought it in 2021), and should have returned it as soon as we realized just how horrible it was. I first heated a single serving of cooked green beans. The amount of condesation from that one re-heat was astonishing. I let it go, and figured maybe it had something to do with the green beans; big mistake. The amount of "condensation" that literally pours out of this microwave with every use is not acceptable. If I could add a video here to show it, I would. We use this microwave only for reheating food or cooking a potato. That's it; prior to this we had been without a microwave for over 5 years, so clearly a microwave is not a priority for us. More recently, the excessive condensation and runoff has caused the microwave to rust--the plastic surrounding the interior face of the appliance has bubbled and peeled away because of the moisture, and the metal underneath is seeping rust. I have included pictures to demo. This is the last GE product I will buy. Right now we're also in the process of trying to have our 18 month-old GE refrigerator repaired--it was the FIFTH exchange of refrigerators, and even this one does not function properly (freezer does not maintain temp). Good-bye, GE. I'm on the hunt now for an appliance manufacturer who takes some pride in building trustworthy appliances.

The product was damaged but usable out of the box. Tried it before the return. It was loud, didn't cook very well, and seemed like if it might last a year. Overall, I would not buy it again.

I purchased this microwave from Best Buy that turned out to be very unsteady and poor in overall build quality. From the start, it did not feel stable or well-made, which was disappointing. When you open the door, the whole thing shakes, along with any possible food. When I tried to return it, I was told that because the return date had just passed, Best Buy would not accept it—even after I explained the quality issue and the fact that I had already been advised by customer service to follow up in-store. Despite making multiple attempts and receiving conflicting guidance, I was ultimately denied a return. I expected better product quality and more flexibility from Best Buy, especially when the issue was related to the item itself rather than a change of mind. Overall, this experience was frustrating and left me disappointed.

Not great. Heats differently each time you use it even with same settings. Has a smell constantly and always has condensation and a yellowish liquid in the bottom no matter how much you use it.

We'd like to help out with your microwave not heating as expected, the odors, and the condensation. We recommend trying out an electronic reset, to help with the heating issues. This can be done by unplugging the power cord for 2-3 minutes, then plugging it back in. An electrical odor in new microwaves can be normal because the electronic board is "curing" as the circuit board material is heated for first few uses. For the condensation, we recommend making sure food that needs to be covered while cooking is covered properly and make sure that there are no items blocking the airflow around the microwave case. For additional troubleshooting, we recommend checking out our support article titled "Microwave - Moisture or Condensation" located on our GE Appliances website in the support section. <img src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/stratos-logos/logos/GE_Appliances.jpg" alt="GE_Appliances" title="GE_Appliances" style="display: block !important; margin-top: 2em !important; border: 1px solid #ccc !important; padding: 2px !important; background-color: white !important;" />

I was looking for something for low use to heat up baby food and to keep under a island space. This was supposed to be the answer to my size and use requirements but it burned out after using it. I also had problems when I tried to heat up plates of food, it would often leave them cold and required multiple minutes to even bring things to luke warm. It was a terrible purchase.

I bought my G.E. microwave online to replace my old one that I had had for about 15 years. I've purchased G.E. products before and never had a problem with any of them. I was excited when the new microwave arrived about 2 days after I purchased it. I took everything out of the box and cleaned the microwave and the turntable. As I was about to clean the ring, I noticed that it was broken inside of the styrofoam packing. I called the company and was told the rings were on back order to the end of the month(this was at the beginning of the month) and that it would take at least 5 business days after that before I received a replacement ring. The new ring came in July and this time it was in a cardboard box which was inside a bubble wrap envelope. My complaint about this ring is that the material is too flimsy. Also trying to fit this ring inside a rigid piece of styrofoam is asking for it to get broken. Package it in bubble wrap! Another complaint is that I have to order the full manual(there was only a Quick Use and Care manual in the box which is not helpful at all). Right now the only thing I can do, is heat water and set the clock. I tried using the Quick Use manual and nothing is working so now if I want to reheat or cook anything small, I have to use my big old stove. Now I'm waiting for the full manual which will take another 3-7 business days. I am so disappointed. The next appliance that I buy, I will make sure I go to the store to check it out.

No issue with the product itself, didn’t open it as I found it was wrong size. Attempt to return it for a refund was rejected, discovered that BestBuy has a measly 15 day return policy, unless you sign up for their club. Will think twice in shopping with BestBuy in the future, plenty of retailers provide a standard 30 day return policy. Indeed, while I’d prefer to shop local, BestBuy don’t make that easy, com-armed to the customer service and return policies provided by Amazon!

Thanks for reaching out. Our countertop microwaves do have a child resistant door lock. However, your description of it randomly turning on doesn't sound normal. Please refer to page 12 in your manual to view instructions on how to disable the child lock if desired. If this happens again, we recommend that you take advantage of your warranty. Thank you! I was so excited to purchase a small countertop microwave and this was exactly what I was looking for. It began holding moisture and forming mold. Also has a burn mark down the inside. I don’t really use the microwave for anything other than reheating for a minute or so so I’m unsure why it’s so unsafe. Very disappointed.

DO NOT BUY. LASTED 33 MONTHS, BB lies about the total tech coverage. should be 1 year manufacture then total tech protection 24 months. Pay attention. I think its reasonable to expect more that 3 years for a $115 microwave. Especially in a 2 adult household that doesn't use it for much more than reheating cooked food. We even use our tea kettle or Keurig for hot tea. Being total total tech covers 24 is bs. I wasted $200 on total tech when it only covers warranty for 12 months month 13 to 24 only. BB saying 24 month coverage is misleading. Now that Total tech doesn't do IT housecalls the plan isnot worth the cost. Just buy product extended warranties. 3+ yrs took live agent 30 minutes to tell me this item is not covered by TT plan. I was signed into my acct to request the live agent and gave them the order # and my acct email and a simply answer was difficult. Dont believe the sales agents. They lie. or miseducated. buy the individualm extended protection plan or else.
