Q: Can the doors be switched to open the other direction?
A: According to the product description, under Specs, then Features, it says the door hinges ARE reversible. If it's anything like my old GE fridge from the mid-90s, it's not apparent by just looking at it, so maybe that's why the verified purchaser answered no. However, if the description is actually wrong, I'd like to know and/or I hope someone fixes it, because this feature is important to me. (FWIW, I have always been very happy with my old GE, it's never needed any repairs, and it still keeps my food as fresh as it ever did, but it may finally be on its last leg, as it's been doing a bunch of loud clunking when the compressor turns off. Of course this happens during a pandemic when the supply chain is hurting and hardly anything's in stock and won't be for months!)
A: Congratulations on your new refrigerator and what an excellent choice! The Styrofoam you see around the controls and vents is not packing material and should not be removed. It is used for insulation and if removed, service will be required to replace it. When starting the refrigerator or changing the temperature, allow for 24 hours until the set point is reached. The fresh food control regulates how long the compressor runs, and in effect, how cold both compartments can become. This model has two shelves in the fresh food compartment, as well as two bins at the bottom (the top covering the bins can also hold items). There is a drawer hanging from the top shelf that is adjustable and can be moved if you prefer; this is referred to as the snack drawer, which may be why you didn't see it listed. The freezer has one shelf, though items can also be placed on the floor of the freezer compartment. It works fine and looks nice.
Reading the reviews I was concerned that this refrigerator would be loud. I was happy to find that the opposite is true. It runs quiet! The long shelves are a bit weak in the middle but not an issue if you place heavy items off to the sides. Plenty of room. I have it out in our garage in cold weather which has been below freezing. I checked the temperatures and the refrigerator and freezer are cooling well. Good overall value for the cost.

Happy with my new purchase!
Very happy with this purchase! Large and sturdy storage bins and capacity, runs very quietly, and I like the sleek finish. Only one little drawback - the fresh meat storage bin can only be pulled out half as far, making it difficult to retrieve items. There is so much storage, that one fails to see the lower last bin in the door and what it is holding - but happy it’s there! It is “spot on” with keeping frig at 40’ (or even a little less), and freezer at 0’. I definitely give high marks on this product!

New Garage Refrigerator
First time I've owned a GE fridge but it seems to deliver. Its not noisy like what I've read some reviews. I've been in the garage when the compressor is running and while not silent, its not loud. The freezer is doing an excellent job and the entire fridge is maintaining excellent temps. I've only had it about a month but so far so good. I also got it at a fair price
