Q: Can this be stored in the garage?
A: Hi Derek- To obtain efficient operation, we recommend to place the freezer in a dry, well ventilated room where the surrounding external temperatures will not exceed 110 degrees F. or fall below 0 degrees F. SUEatGEA
A: Hi Philip- The interior dimensions are approximately 31.5"(W) x 15"(D) x 27.5"(H). Compressor area (hump): 7.5"(W) x 15"(D) x 9.5"(H). 7.0 Cu. Ft. is the usable space. There are many factors that contribute to the volume of food that your freezer will hold including the physical size and shape of each item. In general, a freezer will hold 30 to 35 pounds per cubic foot. The maximum amount of food that your freezer can freeze at one time is 3 pounds per cubic foot. After allowing 24 hours for that to freeze, you can then add another 3 pounds per cubic foot. We hope this is helpful! SUEatGEA
A: Hi Cher, Thank you for your interest in GE Appliances. We apologize for any confusion. FCM7SKWW does not feature an interior light. Models FCM11PHWW, FCM16DJWW and FCM22DJWW feature interior lighting. We hope this helps.
Q: Is it possible to buy extra baskets to better organize my frozen goods
A: The Container Store sells hanging baskets for chest freezers. You will want to double-check the dimensions you need first, but chest freezers tend to come in pretty standard widths.
A: We just used a regular outlet. Did not need a dedicated line
Q: Is this a frost free freezer or do I need to defrost it manually?
A: It is not frost free. I couldn't find a frost free chest freezer. GE manual, Page 5: "In most climates, defrosting will be necessary only about twice a year.To have your freezer operate most efficiently, do not permit more than 1/2" (13 mm) of frost to accumulate on the shelves." http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-60702-3.pdf
Q: Is this energy efficient? Around how much does it cost to run a month?
A: Hi Mel- Estimated Yearly Energy Cost is $30 (based on 12 cents per kWh). We suggest to view the Energy Guide at the following link for details on energy usage: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=GE_FCM7CK_FCM7SK_FCM7DK.pdf - Thanks for choosing GE!
