Does this require special cookware?

To ensure the best performance from this cooktop, you'll need to match the pan size with the element size. Cookware larger than the element ring may be used; however, heat will only occur above the element. You'll want to use cookware with heavier bottoms for better heat distribution and even cooking results. Be sure to choose cookware made of magnetic stainless steel, enamel coated cast iron, enameled steel and combinations of these materials. You can find more information on the cookware to use with this cooktop on pages 16-17 of the owner's manual that you can find on the product homepage in the "Features" section under "Manuals & Guides."

I have ann older ge profile cooktop. It is General Electric Cooktop JP660WV1WW. It measures 35 inches in width. If I get a new profile, will it be the same on the bottom to fit in my slot? It is hard to measure without getting the cooktop out.
