Does this cooktop have smart sensors for the pans? Meaning, will the cooktop adjust to a smaller pan placed over an induction zone, or will a smaller pan cause the zone to turn off prematurely because of a detected mismatch?
This induction cooktop does have a Pan Size Sensor. The induction coils require a minimum pan size to function properly. Cookware larger than the element ring may be used; however, heat will only occur above the element. For best performance, match the pan size to the element size. Using a smaller pot on a large burner will generate less power at any given setting.
Do burners have automatic or timed shut off?

how much energy does this unit draw while off or in the standby mode. I have read that the samsung induction cooktop can cost $800 a year while it is actually off. I am trying to learn if this GE cooktop draws more or less electricity while off. thank you
