The GoPro Smart Remote is a great product, I highly recommend it. It is easier to connect the camera to the remote rather than to your cellphone. You only have to synchronize the remote with the camera once, and it will recognize it on future connections.

Smart remote is very easy to use and is great if you want to be hands free. I fell in love with my smart remote after the first use. It fits on your wrist like a watch. Excellent buy for the money!

A very good camera takes awesome pictures and videos!! It could be a great camera if you didn't have to reset it every time you changed the battery or turned it off!! The settings should be sticky and stay where you want them until you decide to change them!!! If they were I would have given 5 stars!! A better battery would be nice to!!

The Smart Remote is a must-have accessory for the GoPro camera when you aren’t able to hold the camera such as when riding a bike. I mount my Smart Remote to the bike’s handlebar, near my hands, to easily control my Hero5 camera which is mounted under the seat or handlebar.

It worked sometimes, after a month it wouldn't charge up. Had trouble syncing up. Look into the brand new 2021 remote for the Hero9/8 on the gopro site. It works. Picture is of the new improved remote.

Remote works great for standalone shots from afar as well as activating the camera when mounted for action shots. The remote is mountable and waterproof so you don't have to worry about using it in any condition. It also activates multiple cameras at the same time. The only shortfall is that if you have the camera and remote paired, but in the standby mode, they will continue to drain. That's a known shortfall of the camera though, so it's not like the remote is dying faster than the camera. I didn't have a problem with the battery so long as when I was done shooting for the day, that I turned off wireless connections on the camera. Definitely the best remote though for the gopro, and it's an official accessory vs some knock off.

I only have a single GoPro Hero 5, so no complex multi-cam setup. Pairing was fast and easy. I haven’t used it yet, but it was purchased to remote control the GPH5 when mounted on the tower on my boat. This way driver doesn’t have to go hit the button. I like that it is rechargeable, waterproof and allows full control of settings. I could use the app, but WiFi sucks the battery on the GPH5 and the phone isn’t as waterproof or rugged. Also, this can be used by the person behind the boat to easily tag highlights to make it easier to find the cool spots in the clip later. Looking forward to putting it to use.

I have both the REMO and this remote. The Smart Wifi Remote is the best overall, though the REMO has its own strengths. Connecting initially can be a pain, so be patient. Once you get past that process, however, its pretty solid. Multiple (certain Gopro) cameras can be connected to this remote and controlled at the same time, but not individually controlled. The settings button only works for the more modern cameras (maybe Hero 4 on up). The range is adequate. The control is super responsive, and the screen tells you everything you need to know as if the camera was in your hand. This is the greatest strength of this remote. It feels like an extension of the GoPro, rather than be its own thing. The REMO is not as responsive, and tells you virtually nothing about the camera other than that it is or is not actually recording via a red light. It feels like a separate gadget that mostly works with the GoPro. If there is a con, its the battery life and battery charging cable. The charging cable is some weird, proprietary monstrosity. Hope it never breaks. The battery life is not super great. Its enough for a couple of Hero batteries worth of action, but not much more. Something like this should have more like 5-6 hours of battery life, IMO. Also, if you put it to bed with a fully charged battery, the battery seems to discharge itself rather quickly over time when you are not using it. This means you must always make sure to fully charge it prior to your outing. The REMO battery, by comparrison, lasts much longer and does not discharge itself like this when its not being used. Overall, this is the best remote for the GoPro's. It is a bit pricey, but its worth the money if you want to get more serious about your video productions.

Everything is great about this GOPRO. Top of the line till the next one is out. Only complaint is needs to have a longer battery life. I have 3 battery's for it and never fails it will die in the middle of a ride. Have to stop and change battery's. Other than that, it is easy to use. Software is easy to use after some learning curve. All in all i would get it again. If you want a GoPro. Get this model if you can afford it. 4K is cool. I use it on the 1080P now mainly as the battery is really small for 4K. But it looks great. Great low light too. I now have this in my car even for all driving just in case it records an accident or im in one. hope not. Enjoy.

Pros: Smart remote design is excellent. Waterproof & easy to use. Cons: 1. Uses more battery power 2. Bluetooth pairing is lost if Gopro camera power is turned off! You have to resetup every time. I feel that the Gopro should have had the ability to store bluetooth pairing info like most devices usually do. Was scrambling to start up camera when I did not know this initially.

Bought this so as to be able to control the camera while it is mounted to a Quad Copter. Very hard to mess with the camera with 4 main rotors spinning or could spin. Good range and works perfectly. Unlike the iPad controlling it, this remote connects as soon as I turn it on, providing the camera is set up correctly. The iPad requires to connect the WiFi first, then run the program - all time consuming - Warning - Do Not Loose the charging cable - it is special to the unit and you can not just plug in a usb cable to it.

A LITTLE pricey for what it gives you. yes it's nice to be able to control the camera to take selfies or when i have it mounted on my bike/helmet but thats it. battery only last about 3 hours. it says waterproof well it is sort of, it can be submerged in water up to 10 feet but it will NOT work under water. it uses a radio signal and that signal does not travel thru water. so its great to hang out at the pool or beach. the other con to this remote is along with the short battery it has a problem with the battery while charging. somehow it searches for a signal while charging sometimes so you finally take it out to use it is dead. BIG PROBLEM. i have been super upset you don't now how many times i have taken it out and have been unable to use it. in short i think it is great idea the remote itself needs some work especially at that price point.
