About This Item
For more than fifteen years, the Freiburger Barockorchester has been traveling across Germany, from Freiburg to Berlin. While the journey takes only a few hours today, it was quite another story in the eighteenth century what music might have accompanied travelers along these roads? In this new live recorded album, the FBO recreates that musical journey, stopping in Rastatt, Stuttgart, and Eisenach. Alongside the great names of Telemann and Johann Sebastian Bach - with a double concerto for flute and violin and the Second Brandenburg Concerto - listeners will discover splendid works by lesser-known composers Fischer and Kusser, bridging towards the French style; Pez and his Concerto Pastorale, looking towards Italy; and the Ouverture by Johann Ludwig Bach, the elder cousin admired by the illustrious Johann Sebastian.
