I purchased this on a complete whim - I was in-store and the colorful packaging attracted my eye, and I saw it was advertised as a game. I pulled up the reviews on my phone, and was excited by the concept. We got it out and played for about an hour, just messing around in freestyle mode. It was tons of fun, and unlike anything we had ever played before. Unfortunately, though, in the game mode, if you were to receive and open a text, or switch to another app quickly, the board would disconnect and you would have to restart your game from scratch, while also resetting the board. After we had had our fill of it for the day, we put it away. I went to play again the next day, and the board wouldn't even turn on. We did some internet searching, and found this to be a fairly common thing amongst buyers. Seeing as how it's a new game and a new concept, and that the exchange policy with Best Buy was quick and painless, it's not a HUGE deal, but definitely an inconvenience. I hope they upgrade the hardware in the future. We haven't opened the new one yet, so who knows if it'll do the same. Considering that it's app-based, I see huge potential in the future for new game modes and overall growth. The expansion packs aren't unreasonably priced, either. We purchased 5 of those and they're a lot of fun to add to the mix.

My teenager and 8 year old love it, as they play it the most. It's fairly simple to use, and you have to use a smart device compatible with the game to play. My 8 year old set it up easy enough, and there have been dropmix battles every night since getting it. My only gripe, though minor, is I feel the add on packs of music are sort of pricey - not terrible, just a little too much.

I got it on Black Friday. This game is tons of fun, but because you'll be buying card packs and such I can't recommend it for full price. If you can get it for less than $70, I highly recommend it.

I had heard about it (Dropmix), through some YouTube video and thought is was kinda cool. Well lemme tell you... this thing is very cool!! Super fun and borderline addictive... no... totally addictive!! Went and bought another one to give as a Christmas gift. Great for adults, (i'm an adult), so definitely great for kids.

Great game - bought as gift. Easy to follow. Also bought additional cards..

I admit, when I first saw it in store, I was a little skeptical of the fun it could be. It seemed more just a way to mix stuff pre-sampled that, while cool, didn't seem to be terribly interesting. However, that's just the tip of the iceberg. The fact that it can be played like a "smart" card-game, cooperatively or competitively, is impressive and fun! Each card is of a certain type and has a specific "strength" of 1, 2, or 3. A 1 can be played on an empty space or atop another 1, a 2 can be played on empty, a 1, or another 2, and so on. Each slot accepts cards of 1 or 2 types. It becomes like a musical Uno almost, and it's actually really fun! Glad we gave this a shot!

At first I was a little skeptical, but when I got this home there was so much fun to be had. It is a light enough game for beginners but it really has a lot of depth to it. One warning is that the new firmware update has made it harder to sync, but even then it is worth the frustration.

If you love music, you will love this game. It gives the ability to play and max all different kinds of sounds and songs in a freestyle way or in a competition. Any age can play because you only need to understand sound.

I was walking around best buy when I discovered the game dropmix. At first I was thinking it must be bad because there haven't been any advertisements for it or anything. The after looking at the box I saw it was made by the creators of Rockband. In my head I was like I like just about all of their games so far how bad can it be. I decided to do research on it and look up gameplay on youtube. Did some price comparison and finally decided to pick it up. I must say it's an simple and awesome game. It was truly alot better than I had expected. I look forward to collecting the cards and playing with friends. I will say it's worth the money if you simply give it a chance.

Picked this up as family gifts and they loved it! The game plays kinda like Uno but with Music. They say it is for 16+ but smaller kids will have no problem picking it up and playing.

DropMix is a game with a very clever and fun concept, however the fun is severely limited by the lack of cards in the game. The game includes three game modes: Party, Clash, and Freestyle. Party mode gets players to work together to fulfil requests made by the game in order to achieve a high score. Sadly, this is the weakest of the three. Clash mode can be played by two teams, each with up to 2 players. Yes, a 1v2 game does work. In this mode, players battle for control of the board by playing cards in strategic locations to try and cover opposing cards. Freestyle mode, however, is where the game shines the most. There are no rules in freestyle, you are simply free to do whatever you want. Both clash mode and party mode could technically be played without the music aspect of the game, but Freestyle mode lets you run wild. Dropmix tasks you with mixing parts of songs together. The system automatically matches the tempo and key of the songs together, so it rarely sounds bad. Unfortunately, as I said earlier in the review, there aren’t as many cards in the game as one might like. After just a few hours of playing, you start to feel like you’ve heard everything already. This is mostly due to the lack of vocal tracks. They are the most powerful cards in a mix, and there are less than 10 different vocal tracks.

Good price, fast delivery, fun game to bring people together. Not many “board” games interest the younger, hip generation these days, but this one was requested by my college junior.

amazing how that weird board game that the guys who make the rock band games seemed to come up with on a whim ended up being THIS GOOD. even if the game portion leaves a little something to be desired (it can way too possibly become a little luck based), the whole gimmick of mixing parts of songs together is amazing and, 99% of the time, the results are magical. highly recommend (even if not quite at full price)

It is a game that remixes songs based in a complex system but simple for people to use and make any thing sound good.
This game is fun but it does not have enough cards to keep it entertaining for more than 30 minutes or so. The games are not so much a competition as just a group activity. You can make some really awesome songs though and it is interesting to try different combinations of the same cards! I wouldn't pay full price but I got it on clearance and it was worth it!

I was interested in this game but felt the price was too steep. After getting it at a discount, I can say I am very happy with my purchase. While the gameplay is nothing to write home about, the cleverness of how it mixes musics and the actual songs that are produced as you fumble around with cards make this both technically amazing and really fun!!

This game has such a unique way to play! Connecting to your phone through Bluetooth in conjunction with the cards makes music on demand that actually sounds good. You can play it Freestyle (making your own mixes) or Clash/Party style which add a pretty cool game to go along with it. Do not plan on only owning the base set since you'll immediately want the rest of it!

PIcked this up at half price for a friend. Freestyle mode is the best part of the game. You do need to download an app in order to use it. The cards that come with the base game are pretty good but are only about a fifth of what is available at this time. Additional card packs are almost a must but don't buy them online as you may get duplicates.

The best way to describe Dropmix is by calling it Musical Uno. You have 4 colors, 3 number values and two types of wilds cards. Each card is a specific part of a song. Such as the vocals of one song, drum beat or guitar rift of another. When each card is played on the Dropmix board, you score points and that portion of the song on the card begins to play out of your connected phone or tablet. The game will start to mix parts of the various songs together to in equal tempo and rhythm. It is amazing how songs you would not think do not sound good together, will blend in and make mixes you will want to save and listen to later. (You can). The game becomes fun as you enjoy the game play and jam out while you are at it! You can buy additional non random booster packs to complete and add new songs to the 60 card base set that comes with the game. Plus, At time of this review, the game is half price! ($49.99) I highly recommend it!
