Struggling singer Nino Donelli wants to make it big and when a sympathetic opera diva helps him out financially, he is soon the toast of the town. Soon Nino falls in love with his costar Lydia Lubov, but their relationship is threatened when conniving arts patrons Kathleen Gerard and her manipulating husband set their sights on coming between the naive couple.
