The Hisense C2 Smart Mini Projector is a projector that packs a mighty performance. Do not allow the words “mini projector” to fool you into thinking that this projector is mini in nature and in performance, because it is not. I absolutely love my new Hisense C2 Smart Mini Projector. Hisense may refer to it as a mini projector, but there’s nothing mini about its performance. In fact, it packs a punch that far exceeds anything smart TV I own; it’s as if they combined my tablet, television, streaming device, projector, and surround sound system into one device. I was to able to successfully utilize almost all of the features this mini projector has to offer and I am blown away! I was so excited that I went out and purchased a new projection screen (although a screen is not needed) and 3D glasses.
I have to admit that I wasn’t sure if I would be impressed enough to want to use this the projector on a daily basis or even as my main source for watching TV and movies. Furthermore, I previously owned a projector and although it is about ten years old, I was satisfied with it. Although I didn’t use it as often as I’d like to because of its’ limited viewing options and the difficulty of placing it in just the right position for it to line up with the screen.Often times had to place something under one of the four corners to get it to line up with screen and if it was ever bumped or moved out of that exact position, it was a pain to get everything lined back up and in place. However, that’s not the case with the Hisense C2 Mini Projector and it has made me a believer in it and with its’ ease of use and limitless possibilities. It is easy to move from room to room. Easy to spin around to any position; no need to add books or anything to prop underneath it for height or balance. I can actually set it on the floor, table, chair or stand. My older projector would get hot and heat the room up quickly, but not with the Hisense C2 Smart Mini Projector, as it doesn’t get too hot, and it’s very quiet while running; often times I forgot I was watching a projector. I like that there isn’t too much outer light outside the film area, even when it’s off to the side projecting on a wall. It has quickly become a projector that I could watch on a daily bases. I am so pleased with this choice and my only regret is that I didn’t get it sooner. I have actually been losing sleep over the past week staying up late nights watching movies and my favorite TV shows for hours. And if that wasn’t enough, I purchased 3D glasses to take advantage of the 3D capabilities. This smart mini projector is so much fun! The picture quality is stunning, whether displayed on a projection screen, a wall, ceiling or even the floor (yes, I tried watching content on all of those surfaces). The 4K Dolby Vision ensures the colors are amazing, pop and everything looks vibrant, clear and sharp. You can still use this projector with some light in the room. The 3D experience is better than any home 3D I’ve every seen. I really enjoyed going back looking at some of my older 3D movies. I look forward to going back watching all of my other 3D movies. As I opened the various apps to view content, the mini projector auto detected film marker mode for each movie in which it was availible.
As I alluded to early, I’ve had the this Hisense C2 Smart Mini Projector for almost a week. It arrived with some damage to the shipping box that had me concerned, but once I opened the box, I realized the Mini Projector was inside another box that was inside the product box and it was completely covered in form. Everything within the main box was unharmed, as everything was well packaged and protected. The first thing I did was make sure everything was included in the box and quickly noticed that the premium bluetooth remote control. It looks well made and solid. It has quick access buttons to four often used apps (Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video and Disney+). The remote buttons are large and easy push press. It is backlit which is a welcomed feature in the dark. It has good range for a remote and I don’t have to point it directly at the device for it work. Voice assistant works well via the remote. The power adapter is solid and well made and is actually kinda heavy, along with the thick power cord. The Hisense C2 Smart Mini Projector is well made and fairly light weight. They also included a nice accessory carrying bag. I downloaded the Vidda app that works great with the Hisense C2 Smart Mini Projector and it has a very good remote within the app and quick ways to access apps.
I proceeded to read the quick start guide first and then began to set up the projector and plug it in. Speaking of plugging the projector in, it was simply that easy, it truly is close to plug and play. I was able to simply walk through each step without having to go back to the quick start guide as the onscreen instructions guided me along the way. I couldn’t stop smiling at how easy and seamless the setup process was. I created a user account for myself using their built-in Vidda platform. The display reminded me of the Google or even the Amazon Firestick platforms. The Vidda processor system is fast. It’s actually faster than a few of my other streaming services devices. You’re able to set up multiple user accounts and profiles for the entire family which allows you to personalize the smart features to your preferred settings. After I set up my user account, I proceeded to explore the features. I signed in to all of the built in smart streaming apps I use right from the Home Screen, such as; Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, Disney+, Apple TV, Paramount+, and many others. I also connected my X-Box console, surround sound, streaming devices and even my mobile phone using their Vidda app. The Vidda platform has a built in web browser and it works great when used with your mobile phone app because you’re able to use the your phone’s keyboard, mouse and passwords. I also connected my Apple TV device and 3D blu-ray player. Content sharing is easy as it has airplay and direct streaming that allows you to share content directly to the projector or any of the connected devices. Bluetooth music sharing shows the artwork from the song playing and you can control the music with the remote while you share it to the projector. The Hisense C2 Mini Projector has the e-manual available directly whenever you need to look something up and is on your screen and can be accessed just as you would with any of the other apps.
Because the Hisense C2 Mini Projector is so versatile and extremely portable, I connected multiple surround sound systems, along with headphones and earbuds via bluetooth. Every connection was simple and I didn’t face any difficult tasks. I was amazed at the ease of connecting my devices. Everything was seamless. I was able to view how the picture looked at 65 inches and 150 inches. I wasn’t able to create enough space to see what 300 inches looks like, but I noticed the size of the projected image wasn’t affected when I stretched the size of the image from 65” to 200”. You do not need a purchase a projection screen to view your content as a wall or ceiling works fine and all viewing angles are great. But I found the projection screens enhanced the picture some as well as it looked brighter, but it is still not necessary with this mini projector. I watched the same movie scene using a projection screen that’s 120 inches in size, on a flat coco-color painted wall, and a white ceiling that’s about 15 feet high. I throughly enjoyed my content in each situation. This smart mini projector automatically matched the color or adjusted to the surface and color automatically, regardless of the area or surface type. The auto functions for focus and keystone features are the best that I have every experienced. I simply set my projection screen in front of the image and it automatically detected the screen and borders and placed the image perfectly within the screen’s boarders. I was able to move the mini projector around the house with ease and in most situations I just sat it down on a flat surface and turned it around. It has a 360 swivel base and is extremely useful, while the projector sits on the arms that’s attached to it acting as a mini stand.
As with all electronics, there is always some cons and even some wishful features that I think could be addressed in an update. For example, a few apps like the Vevo and BMC apps are no longer working. I wish there was a way to delete those apps that no longer work or I do not need, or at least be able to remove them from view on the smart home screen. However, there are some factory installed apps that you cannot delete or move from the home screen and out of view. Unfortunately, you can only delete apps that you’ve installed and the apps that are no longer working are still there as well.
In closing, I only touched on a few of the capabilities of the Hisense C2 Smart Mini Projector. This mini projector actually has endless possibilities. I highly recommend it and I believe you will not be disappointed.
