Q: Why does it say 3 pack? The box says 2 Air Purifier Filters and 4-8 prefilters.
A: The question is correct, there are two hepa filters and a sheet of loose woven plastic, about 16" x 48" that is supposed to be pre-filter. This material is no way as dense as the original carbon pre-filter. It probably will catch dog hair, but I don't know if it stop odors. After cutting material for the prefilter from this sheet, there is not enough left for two more of the size needed for a 300 series machine.
Q: How long do the filters last ?
A: Manufacturer recommends to change the pre-filter every three months and the main filters once a year. I live out in the country where there is a lot of dust around my home. I went seven months with both the main filters and the pre filter. One thing I was doing was blowing out with forced air the pre-filter every time the pre-filter warning light turned on. Don’t blow out the main filters.
Q: Why does this come with only 2 filters when you need 3?
A: There are different sizes of air purifiers. The smaller units only need 1 filter. The medium size uses 2. The larger unit requires 3 filters.
