Does the light on this heater go on (a) when the unit is plugged in, (b) when the unit is turned on, or (c) only when the fan is blowing?

However, there is a light that will be on whenever the unit is turned on, including when the heater is producing output and the fan is blowing. Can it be safely used overnight?
