Each cartridge uses cotton and activated carbon to trap fine dust and other contaminants to help prevent debris from recirculating, while activated carbon helps remove odors, discoloration and impurities as it works to absorb fish waste and maintain a healthier tank environment. A coarse floss layer helps capture larger particles, and the molded ribbed back is designed to increase water-to-carbon contact for efficient filtration. Installation is quick: remove the dirty cartridge and insert the new one into the filter grooves, then fill the filter with tap water. Before use, rinse each new cartridge under cool tap water until the water runs clear to remove carbon dust; allow the system to filter for at least 24 hours before introducing fish to the tank.
