The Insignia countertop microwave is one of many microwave units out in the market. For those that who don’t know Insignia is the in-house brand of Best Buy. With that aside, the Insignia countertop microwave oven has a 1.1 cubic ft capacity and has a rating of 1000 watts. And since the size of the of the microwave is slightly smaller than an over the oven microwave, it can match the latter’s performance as most countertop ovens have a rating of only 700 watts. The microwave I reviewed has a black enamel coating which makes it a sleek looking unit. The door has a lock wherein you lock the door by pushing a button/trigger in the handle. This for me is quite important since often times countertop microwave ovens slide toward you when opening the door. On the right side of the is a touch screen control panel which contains the most common presets found in other microwave ovens such as timers, clock and various food modes. Operation of the unit was pretty simple. One thing I have noticed is that the microwave seems to be a bit more quiet and not really vibrating much. These are features found in more expensive models. Overall the Insignia 1.1 cubic feet countertop microwave oven seems to be on par with other brands. And I will highly recommend this model.

This is a perfect size microwave that doesn't take up too much space but still has enough power. It has all the presets and isn't extremely loud like some other microwaves.

I haven't bought a microwave for quite a few years, so I wasn't sure how much, if at all, things had changed. This is a pretty straightforward appliance and I got about what I expected. I really like the "trigger" on the handle, at least I do so far! Our old microwave just had a kind of "clunk" when you closed the door, so I was never quite sure if it was closed all the way or not. I never actually had any trouble with it but it always left me feeling the need to double check it. This one closes very well and the extra security of the trigger snapping it shut makes me feel a bit better. The controls are about what you would expect on any microwave with the typical buttons for quick settings, power and time and an easy 30 second start by just hitting the start button. The clock is ready to set and the buttons press easily. The popcorn time is perfect for once (our old one went way to long), and the popcorn doesn't come out smelling burned! The inside seems a little short but is deep and wide enough, I'm just used to our old one that is a bit larger capacity. I do like that this one didn't take up as much space, so the counter will have more room than we used to have. Overall, it is a nice microwave at a decent price and does the job very well.

My Kitchen Built-In went out and that was the end of an era. This new Insignia Microwave has more power than our old built-in and fits perfectly on the kitchen counter. Opening and closing is EASY and the intuitive controls make perfect sense. Just plug in and Go! You don't need to read the manual to learn how to use it! 1000 Watts of power mean your cooking times are the same or faster than the Microwave in your kitchen right now. What are you waiting for?

Love this microwave perfect size for my husband and me. Very quiet when cooking very easy to use I highly recommend and the price was awesome.

I have been using this microwave for awhile now and i really like it. It is a big improvement over the last microwave i had. That one only lasted around a year before it began to rust out. This one is easy to use, cooks well, and has features i like. It only beeps once when cooking is done, and it's several minutes before theres a reminder beep. It is a good size, easily fits on countertop, and i like the door latch feature. Hope this one lasts a long time.

This replaced a similar size big name unit that had finally died after many years of service. After a month of use, I am still reaching (occasionally) for the non-existent pushbutton to open the door. Old habits! And readjusting some cooking times! While same power rating as the old one, this seems a bit hotter! Maybe a bit more efficient at heating. And I appreciate that it is quieter in operation! Ordered it online, supposedly ready for pickup in an hour, but I had an email in 10 minutes saying it was ready! Hard to beat!

As someone older, it's a little more difficult to read the labels below the buttons. With better lighting (and readers), it's easier to read. (Backlighting would be nice, but not necessary.) The LED lighting for the time is extra bright. It would be nice if that could be adjusted so it isn't so bright at night. The power is good and although it only beeps once at the end, it does beep twice if you don't take your food out right away. I do like being able to push the start button for an automatic 30 second timer and adding another 30 seconds for each additional push of the start button... same with the beverage button. A 10.5" dinner plate easily fits inside. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase.

Living in an apartment I needed a microwave that did not take up too much space but still provided 1000 watts of energy. Obviously, this is bigger than say a 700 watt microwave in size, but if looking for a 1000 watt microwave, this is the one to get. It is easy to figure out how to use it. I do wish the buttons were back lit for easier reading, but do not know if any microwave offers that feature. Definitely recommend.

Quieter than my last microwave. Power. Very easy to use. This is an affordable alternative to pricey brand names.

We bought this microwave because my wife wanted a countertop microwave to supplement the higher, larger, over the cooktop microwave that we currently have. This microwave is large enough to accommodate our largest dinner plates, but small enough that it does not take up an excessive amount of countertop space. On examining the large brand name microwaves, this proved the right size, very good outward quality, and versatility to meet all of our needs. You can use as a main microwave or just as a supplement to a larger one. Many options, nice appearance, and it works really well. Not too small, not too big - just right. Needed a new microwave, and purchased the Insignia 1.1 cubic foot countertop microwave. It is working very well. A very handsome, sleek unit that is fairly easy to use. We use it for general kitchen/food prep in our home

Perfect medium size microwave. Powerful. Easy to use. This fits a normal size dinner plate and taller coffee cups to reheat our forgotten coffees. Mom and kid approved:)

Perfect, exactly what I was looking for. Very easy to use. The bell signaling the time is complete is single, not annoying (like five beeps on my last microwave) and a fre minutes later, there is a reminder if you haven't opened the door yet to remove your item. The handle is also perfect and door handle easy to grab and open in one simple pull. The overall size is smaller than my last one, but this has the same size glass plate, saving space on the countertop. Heats food efficiently. Quick settings for 1 minute intervals. And less than $100. I give it 5 thumbs up!!

I like the overall performance of this microwave, it is quiet and 1000 watt power works very well for frozen meal preparation. The door handle latch takes a little getting used too but other wise performance is as expected.

It’s exactly what I needed ,and it’s easy to use, the size is perfect for my apartment. It heats the food quickly. I even use my hot pack in it to warm it up. Very happy with it.

Very good for the price. Features are perfect. Only problem is that the plate doesn't seat properly. The one piece assembly for the plate is a great idea but the tabs on the bottom of the plate don't reach the notches on the assembly. Plate does turn but makes a small rubbing noise. Looking all over for solutions but came up with no answers.

--- SETUP --- The microwave comes as a one piece unit that only requires you to remove the tapes that hold certain things for safety, insert the glass rotating plate, and plug in to use. You might need two people to get the microwave safely out of the box and help you carry it onto where you want it to be, but otherwise, it is easy to install. --- FEATURES --- 9 cooking presets (popcorn, potato, pizza, frozen vegetable, beverage, dinner plate, express cook (1-6), add 30s, and defrost options.), 1.1 cu. ft. interior, 12.4 inch glass turntable, child-lock safety door handle. The black finish makes an excellent aesthetic with other black kitchen appliances. Light inside turns on when the microwave is opened, not just when in use. --- EXPECTATIONS and PERFORMANCE --- This microwave is an upgrade from my previous microwave. The turntable is bigger, allowing me to fit larger sized cookware. In it, I was able to cook microwavable mashed potatoes, which is sometimes a challenge because some microwaves will leave the mashed potatoes hot on the surface, but cold in the middle. With this Insignia model, my mashed potatoes came out warm all around. Next, I cooked some canned corn. I used the 5 minute preset and cooked it in microwavable glassware. I added butter, mayo, and salt, making the corn tasty. For our weekly movie night, I cooked two bags of popcorn. For popcorn, I always follow the instructions on the popcorn bag, not the popcorn button. Needless to say, our popcorn came out nearly fully popped and we didn’t get any burnt popcorn smell. My wife and I are big coffee brewers. We use a french press and like to warm our water in the microwave. The beverage button mode is great, as you have the option to press it up to 3 times and heat 1,2, or 3 cups of your beverage. It speeds up our morning routine. If you happen to forget what the presets do after each press, there is a nice plaque with a reminder of what you can do with the presets. That is a great feature to have and actually use the presets with your microwave. We have been using this new microwave daily since we installed it, and we quickly became accustomed to how it works, how the door opens, and the noises it makes when your food is ready. Adding thirty seconds makes it convenient when you know you need extra cooking time, and having presets that are actually easy to understand is a plus. --- APPROVAL --- Overall, this is a nice microwave that is a definite upgrade compared to my previous microwave. It is user friendly and requires little to no effort to understand its functionalities. It's great at cooking popcorn, reheating leftovers, and cooking frozen meals with even temperatures. I highly recommend this product to anyone.
