  • Key Specs
    • Recommended Room Size: 300 square feet (The recommended area size in which the product is designed to operate and produce optimal results, such as the desired heating or cooling. Generally, running a unit too big or too small for the space will result in ineffective operation and wasted energy.)
    • DOE SACC Cooling Power: 10000 british thermal units (The Seasonally Adjusted Cooling Capacity (SACC), implemented by the Department of Energy (DOE) after 2017, is a rating of a portable AC unit's cooling power. This rating is based on revised testing that more accurately measures a portable unit's performance, taking into account that these units do not vent heat in the same way as wall or window units and therefore were not cooling as effectively as the previous BTU ratings indicated (based on the ASHRAE-128 standard prior to 2017). Generally, the new cooling power ratings are lower than previous BTU ratings and can more reasonably be compared to the cooling capacities of other types of AC units.)
    • Number of Cool Settings: 3
    • Number of Fan Speeds: 3
    • Airflow Rate: 206 cubic feet per minute
    • Remote Control: true
    • Integrated Heater: false
    • Sleep Mode: true (Enabling this mode sets the unit to first reach the desired temperature, then gradually increase the temperature over a period of time until it reaches a new set temperature, typically several degrees higher than the initial cool setting. This mode helps save energy while keeping the room comfortable.)
    • Timer: true
    • Auto Shut-Off: false (Feature automatically turns off the product.)
    • Window Venting Kit: true (Indicates whether supplies for venting the unit through a window are included.)
    • Combined Energy Efficiency Ratio (CEER): 12 (The standard used to measure energy efficiency in window and room air conditioners by the Department of Energy (DOE) as of June of 2014. CEER measures the ratio of output BTUs (British Thermal Units) to input electrical energy (watts) in standby mode and while the unit is operating. Generally, the higher the number, the more efficient the unit. Though higher efficiency units are typically more expensive upfront, they may offset the price in energy costs over time.)
    • App Compatible: false (The product can be connected to a program or software application on a mobile device, which then receives collected data from the product.)
    • Air Conditioner Type: Portable
    • Hose Configuration: Single (Generally, dual hose configurations are more efficient and better suited for cooling larger areas. Single hose configurations typically consume less energy and are best for cooling smaller spaces.)

Q: Does this ac unit have to be emptied?

A: YES.....even if it is not on dry. However, it will not let you know/ give an indicator (FL) unless on dry. Mine started spitting water from the front. I switched it to dry and immediately got (FL) on the screen and it shut off. Best buy doesn't include a user guide with it, only a set up guide. I had to go online to find out what was going on. So on page 23 it tells you to use a syphon to get the water out (guess what Best buy doesn't sell one even though it is required to empty it). I bought a Frigidaire the same day I bought this one. I bought a dehumidifier hose for that one, screwed it on and let it drain out of the window next to outlet vent. EASY. Still trying to figure out a solution to this one since I am not physically able to unplug, disconnect the vent hose, and syphon the water (clean up afterwards) every time it needs empting.

Q: Just want to know, if it has a container that has to be empty out?

A: Yes and it is not removable. It requires a syphon that bestbuy doesn't sell.

Q: Description for this 10,000 BTU Air Conditioner says it cools an161 sq ft room. 10,000 BTU air conditioners are supposed to cool up to 350 sq. ft. but they cost more, is that hte reason for being cheaper, less efficiency and wasting energy?

A: I had the same question about his product; I figured that the online listing of the sq. ft. cooling capability was incorrect, given the BTU rating of the unit. It should theoretically cool an area of about 350 sq. ft. However after running it late in the afternoon for a couple of hours each day in mid 80 degree temp. this unit barely cooled down my living area that is approximately 400 sq. ft. in my apartment by a few degrees. I will be returning this unit and will buy the 14,000 BTU Insignia unit that is listed to cool up to a 500 sq. ft. space.

Q: What kind of sifone hose should I buy to drain water?

A: I bought a clear hose & clamp from Home Depot, plumbing aisle. As per manual specs. 1/2 inch inside diameter

Q: What do I do if the bottom inside my insignia is full of water ? Will it affect it later?

A: I try to pull the little black plug every 30 minutes when its really humid and hold a cup up to it as it will pump out half a cup usually. When i use it in a large room over 400 sqft the auto evap does not keep up to the moisture and the bottom fills with water. I just take the back off and tilt the unit on its back in the shower or on the deck..... seems annoying but honestly after all the reviews on other units this is a super underrated ac unit.

Q: Does the unit come with what you need to empty the water or do you need to purchase a siphon hose?

A: It does not come with the siphone hose, I would have to purchase one, it is veryninconvenient because water comes outnof the vent.

Q: How noisy is this ac

A: Just bought one now pretty loud but seems like the AC that I got might have been brought back and put for resale. Will probably bring it back to see if this is normal

Q: Why is there a FL on my display screen? It is shutting off on its own

A: Means its full of water and needs to be drained
