Q: can they both watch the same movie?
A: This device allows for sharing one DVD or two separate DVDs.
Q: Can each be placed in seperate cars
A: They aren't dependent on each other to work, so yes, you could put on in each car.
A: They need to be plugged in to function. They do not have a built in battery.
Q: Does playback resume if powered off (say stopping to get gas?)
A: Yes it does, it picks up right where you left off.
Q: How do I connect so that both screens play the same movie?
A: You have to have the cord to connect the two devices. One device has an output only spot while the other has an input & output spot. The device with the output only spot will be your "lead" player so the movie will have to be in that player. On the secondary player you will need to press and the the function button (I think is what is is called) until it connects to the lead player.
Q: does this player play blueray dvds
A: This system does not play Blu-ray
Q: Sync the sound with a cable?
A: Yes just plug the supplied Aux cable from your DVD player into your cars audio system and the whole car can hear the movie, thru your cars speakers.
Q: Are headrest straps velcro?
A: These come with a cloth covered mount that you velcro the DVD players to and then the mounts have adjustable straps to attach them to what ever you want to attach them to. seat backs, head rests.
