Hi John, thank you for your question. Yes, the Insignia™ Universal 3.5 mm to Bluetooth Audio Adapter (NS-ADAPT35MMBT) should work with a 5th Generation iPod Classic (30GB, 2005) as long as the iPod's 3.5 mm headphone jack is functioning properly. Simply connect the adapter to the headphone output and pair it with your Bluetooth headphones or speaker. Shashank | Insignia

Hello Steve, thank you for your question. Yes, if your iPod Classic 5th Generation has a 3.5 mm headphone output, you can connect it to this Insignia™ Universal 3.5 mm to Bluetooth Audio Adapter and pair the adapter with a compatible Bluetooth speaker. This allows audio from the iPod to be transmitted wirelessly to the speaker for music playback. Sudeep | Insignia
