Purchased this as open box from Best Buy. This thing sounds weird and when you turn volume up to like 70% it cuts out . Will be taking it back.

If the issue remains, try to connect it to a different device to check if it is an issue with the device. Lastly, try resetting it by pressing and holding the Volume + and Play buttons for more than three seconds while it is powered on. You may need to 'forget' the speaker in your device to pair them again. Speaker sounds great but it is conveniently left out that this will not connect with any older model speakers. Only works with party boost speakers. I only bought this to add to my charge 4 and I passed on the charge 4 and got 5 cause it was newer. Bad move

bad pairing also poor jbl app where you got stuck connecting 2 jbl speakers into stereo mode. other than that it sounds good as a single speaker

Extremely disappointed, as a Best Buy customer and credit card holder I didn’t expect from Best Buy. I bought the speaker as a gift for my wife last month. She just unboxed it, and guess what? The battery life is already 0%. The speaker can’t even stay on for 2 seconds even I plugged it. I’ll never buy anything from Best Buy again.

The description of the product says that the speaker battery lasts 20 hrs when it only lasts 5 hours... It drains really fast and + the sound is not as high as i thought, at least not for the price of the speaker. I have altec, sony and now a JBL and so far, Altec has given me the return of what i paid for.. Another reason of why i am giving 1 start is because Best Buy only provides 15 days to return the product... now i cant get my money back ..

I have had a jbl charge 3 and 4. Which have performed great. I bought the charge 5 in sept. About a month into it the battery wasnt lastine more than 7 hours. It is now december and on a full charge it will last about 3 hours before blinking red. Ive reset it and tried all the trouble shooting there is, other than replacing the battery. For the price of this thing you would think you would get your moneys worth. Or atleast something that last more than 3 months.Do not waste your money.

Bestbuy Rep was extremely dismissive about their company promise. I ordered open box “excellent” -it promises to have the charger, but no charger was in the box. I used another charger which took forever to charge, however, the battery only lasted 4 hours. This isn’t “excellent” so I’m returning the speaker. Through my search I actually found the same speaker cheaper & new on Amazon.

The speaker has some connectivity issues. There was times where it would not connect to the Wifi. Also would lose connection in middle of song. I have good internet connection so I know it was not my internet issue. I had one speaker similar to this one before and never had any issues with it.

My order was delivered to the wrong house. I have a ring camera and have proof of never receiving my package. I will never buy from here again. No one was helpful. Poor customer service.

The sound quality at home in comparison to the floor model in store was horrible. Would rather pay more for a better quality speaker. Sounds like a louder version of your phone speaker to me

Thank you for your feedback. To isolate the issue with your JBL Charge 5, please check the equalizer settings of your phone and set it to default. We also recommend trying to connect it with a different device or play audio using a different application. You may also try doing a Factory Reset. This step will wipe all previous settings and pairings, so it will be necessary to pair your unit with your devices again. To reset, turn on the speaker. Then, press and hold the Volume + and Play button for more than 3 seconds. The speaker will turn off, and reboot to factory default. Not sure if I got a dud or something but the speaker is trash, especially coming from JBL. Doesn’t last long on battery, sound quality is alright, Bluetooth connectivity is garbage, can’t even walk a few feet away without it starting to cut out. Advertised 20 hours of playback time, doesn’t even get close to that.

The worst ever. The said speaker is in the excellent condition . So I bough it . I was over sea. When I came back was really bad conditions they should not sell it. I trust them that’s why I bought while I’m over sea. Not the sand can’t return it.

Did not ship with charging cord. Customer Service refused to send a replacement or offer any sort of discount for the error. Do yourself a favor, stick to Amazon... Best Buy is a dieing company.

After having the charge 4 for many years i was excited for the 5 but they failed me. The leave charge port exposed. Why? Bother the charge 4 had both covered. Why take that feature away. I often work in dusty job sites and this will just become useless quick. Also wont water get in? Ill be buying a new charge 4 and returning the 5.

So i have JBL in my vehicle so i thought this would be a good speaker. Wrong the aides vibrant soooo much with the music it actually takes away from the music all i hear now is vibration and it sounds bad

Thank you for sharing your feedback with our JBL Charge 5. The vibration may be due to the high volume level, boosted bass, the surface the speaker is placed on, or the type of music being played. To fix the issue, consider reducing the volume on the speaker or the source device. It may also help to change the speaker's location to more stable surface. Try playing different music genres, as some music have heavy bass. Check if the EQ (Equalizer) feature is activated in the music player app and disable it. If disabling the EQ doesn't help, try adjusting it to decrease the bass levels. You can also use our JBL Portable App to adjust EQ and lower the bass levels. If the issue persists, try resetting the speaker by holding down the "Volume +" and "Volume -" buttons for more than 5 seconds. The speaker does not have a clear sound short battery life, after the update there are no improvements in the sound ,The Sony xb33 has better clear and stereo sound. JBL is overrated
