I returned a Sony receiver yesterday because it did not have a ‘phono’ connection but I could play Dad’s records NO problem on his NEW BestBuy purchased Audio-Technica AT-LP120XBT-USB through RCA connections. I returned the Sony because it lacked all the connections we needed for five input devices. The Sony was $399 this JBL is $799 and the records sound like GARBAGE through it. Complete Disapointment!

I have no clue how there are so many positive reviews, it quite honestly seems fishy. My immediate reaction to this AVR was how poor it sounde. No charecter, no depth, sounds like a Vizio soundbar. Then you get into the slightly more minute things, like the inability to game (atleast with a Series X) as the screen cuts out every 30 seconds as it toggles on and off game mode repeatedly. Then you realize there is no input button the on remote, that the UI is awful, and only a few hours into ownership you realize that you have very likely purchased the worst 7.2 chanel reciever currently on the market. I bought it because it looks like the next generation of AVRs, yet it performs like it is 20+ years behind.

GARBAGE! It DIED after 8 months - and HARMAN KARDON (the manufacturer) wants me to pay for shipping materials and costs to their warranty center in Texas! (Also - the CEC implementation is deeply flawed.). Stay away from JBL -or for that matter ANY Harman-Kardon amps. Go check out how many busted units are for sale on eBay.

This receiver did not work correctly right out of the box. Even the tv itself would not reliably sync up with it. I made calls to both JBL tech support and Best Buy Geek squad and neither could help get it working. Finally JBL recommended returning it which I did. Which leads to the one bright spot which is Best Buy's AWESOME return policy and customer service. Replaced the receiver with a competitive brand which worked right the first time.

Returned, had informed I was interested in a 2 channel and was turned onto this but no.... Absolutely run away the setup is horrendous, which a lot of people articulate. I'm not a tinkerer and don't have time for all the setup.

Thought this would crush my almost 10 year old Yamaha receiver. Not even close to the same quality of my old unit. Sound was flat and very thin to my ears. Buggy software. Has Chromecast built in. It would give its little chiming noise to say it was connected, then drop the connection in about 15 seconds. Nothing tried would resolve that. No am fm ability (that was my fault for not noticing). I have had other JBL products I liked, just not this JBL
