READ THIS BRFORE SPENDING $900! I have been a professional DJ for nearly 30 years and I know a little something about speakers and audio equipment. I will start off by saying that the sound quality is great. The low end especially with the bass boost on is punchy and loud. The high end is crisp and clear. Sounds carry well out doors as well. Neither distorts much even at high volume. If I was just reviewing the sound of this unit it would easily be a 4 - 5 star speaker. That’s where the good ends and the bad begins. The build quality for a $900 “portbale” leaves a lot to be desired. If you are going to put this speaker in a room and never move it you will be fine but if you are buying it because of its portability you may want to look elsewhere. The first problem with the build quality of the tiny wheels. They claim this is the ultimate tailgating and party speaker but traveling with it is a pain. At nearly 70 lbs it is not something most people can carry around so you are forced to roll it to wherever you go. Because of the small size of the wheels the entire bottom of the unit gets scratched up and destroyed if you roll it on anything but perfectly flat pavement. I bought this to use when tailgating and in the dugout at softball games that I coach. The first time I went to use it I had to roll it through some gravel and uneven grass to get to the dugout. The gravel destroyed the bottom of the speaker casing because there is no clearance between the wheels and the bottom of the unit. Ot dug into the plastic leaving grooves and scaring all over it. When rolling through uneven grass the unit wants to tip over because the wheels are not sturdy enough to keep it balanced. This is fine for a grown man to handle because you can muscle it to keep it from falling over but if you are not fairly strong this could easily tip and fall while rolling which cause damage to the internal components. This brings me to my second issue with the build quality. Transporting this unit is not real easy because you must lift the 70 lb unit to get it into your vehicle. For many people this may be a 2 person job due to the weight but because the lift handles are on both ends. You need fairly long arms to reach them both at the same time. I am 5’ 11” with a decent wingspan and it is tough for me to reach them both while picking up the very heavy unit to lift it into my truck. The first time I transported it I decided to not put it into the bed of the truck because I didn’t want it to get banged up. I decided to stand it upright on the rear floor boards. While taking a turn onto a road the unit tipped over and bumped into my center console. The unit did not fall to the ground because of its size but the bump into the center console put a 2 or 3 inch dent into the speaker grill. Being around large speakers for the majority of my life, it is common for a speaker grill to dent but the ease of which this one dented was a problem. The much bigger problem is that the speaker grill is not removable so once it is dented there is not much that you can do to fix it. With many speakers you can remove the grill and smooth out the dent or you can use a small tool to insert into the grill holes to pull out the dent. On this particular speaker you can not access the back side of the grill at all without completely dismantling the entire speaker which I would not recommend because it is a chore and you could screw up the components inside. The holes on the grill are so small that after and extensive search on the internet and a few tool purchases I found zero tools that would actually fit in the hole and be strong enough and have the right angle to pull it out. Lastly, the app to control the speaker is great when it works but in many cases it doesn’t. I have had multiple connection issues with the app where it says it can not connect to the speaker. My Bluetooth connects fine and I can play music but I have no control over the lights or other features without the app meaning your battery may die prematurely because of the drain of the lights show that you don’t need outside during the daylight. In order to get the app to work sometimes I have forget the device in my Bluetooth settings, uninstall the app, and then reinstall it. Also I have had Bluetooth drop out issues quite a few times already from less than 75 feet away. I use a IPhone 16 to play the music from at pur games so it shouldn’t be dropping out at that distance I wouldn’t think. Lastly, I have tried to find a PADDED case to put over the unit for transport and haven’t had any luck finding one. There are dust covers on the internet but nothing padded. Most high end DJ speakers offer padded travel covers. This would be a nice option for this speaker since it meant to be transported. Unfortunately, I am less than a month into owning this speaker and it already looks abused thanks to the grill dent and beat up bottom. For $900 I expected more.
