About This Item
Breaking the Sounds' Barrier, Reading By Ear, Inc. is a small, new publishing firm that's making a difference in the classrooms and homes of America! Using the arts to help children learn to read, they have placed MUSIC at the core of their curriculum. The music is recorded on four CDs and offers over 40 toe-tapping, fun-filled songs and raps to capture the ears of children -- guaranteed to put a giggle in your gizzard. Each sound of the alphabet (plus ch, sh, th, and ng), is enunciated to a swinging sound track and followed by an origianl song, written to feature each targeted-letter of the alphabet. The songs feature Jim Post, who wrote and sang a number-one hit in the 60s,'Reach Out of the Darkness,' under the tag Friend and Lover. These 4 CDs are part of an entire curriculum that features a teacher's manual, a song book (containing detailed dance movements -- some children learn predominately by moving -- and musical notation and lyrics for every song), and 30 stories -- one for every letter of the alphabet, plus ch, sh, th, and ng. Hundreds of schools and parents are using this new multisensory, phonological, phonemic, musical approach to reading and seeing remarkable success. And children love the songs! Album Tracks 1.
